Default Female roommate to share long term rental

My sister is looking to relocate to The Villages. Looking for a female non smoker to share expenses for a long term rental located preferably 466A to 44 area.

Default I should NOT type this but........

I think it is not safe or a good plan to move in with someone you do not know at all. It may save you money in the short term but cost you lots of money in the long term if things don't work out and you move out and have to pay the rest of your commitment.

Why Gracie, maybe not every one is in good enough financial shape to afford to live alone. Why would you even leave such an ungracious comment?

I haven't figured out what she meant yet, but since the OP was not critical of TV, I highly doubt there was ill-intent. I'm not sure how your leap to "financial shape" evolved either. I'm sure GG will clarify it.

A number of tbe posts were removed from this thread. Mine was one post that was removed. I expressed concern about living with a person you "met" through a post. My concern was strictky safety. Several removed posts said that was a girl thing. I would feel better if the roommate was found through a friend, church member or friend of a friend.

You are right that not every one can afford to live alone but there are far less expensive options and the approximately 145 dollar a month amenity fee is not an expense added to small homes or apartments outside of The Villages.

Moving in with someone you don't know to me is asking for trouble. We are more opinionated, set in our ways, and irritable as we age. When you move in with someone you move in with their ways of taking care of the space, with their personal hygiene and their health, all things that could quickly become large issues. Add friends and family visitors, pets, and using one kitchen and things could quickly change and folks could get on each other's nerves. I am just being realistic. Plus I watch Judge Judy.

Moving in with someone you have known for a while, or someone who is a family member is not without challenges, but moving in with a complete stranger is just not a choice anyone should be encouraged to make.

Ungracious? No. Not politically correct, probably.

Leisha2, I see several posts of yours trying to rent a rental you own here in TV. Have you rented your home to two people who have not previously known each other? Wouldn't you be a little nervous about doing so?

When I first moved to the DC area, I quickly learned that things were a lot different back in Michigan and I needed a roommate. The only people I knew there were the people I worked with! I answered an ad in the Washington Post for a roommate! Okay, this was many years ago and times were a lot different back then!

I think Linda and I shared our 3 bedroom /2 bath apartment for 3-4 years. We each had our own bedroom and bath and we made the 3rd bedroom into a TV room/guest bedroom. Even though we had a lot of the same interests, we didn't do a lot together. I worked a lot of long hours and we merely shared an apartment. By saving so much money on rent, in the end, we were both able to buy our own condos.

I'm not sure I would do it now because times are a lot different. But it worked for us back then.

My vivacious Mom needs a long term arrangement as her ranch rental is becoming too much for her to manage. Is your sister already living in TV? When do you think this would come about?
