To explain - since I realize logic is not everyone's forte:

...
A valid argument might be "I can make BETTER for less, and so I shall."

If you know you can get something for less somewhere else, and that is your argument for complaining about the price of something, then - get it for less somewhere else. Or just accept that at THIS place, there's an add-on price of $23 for salmon. Lighthouse is not an inexpensive middle-quality chain restaurant.
I just have to chuckle at the logic is not everyone's forte statement embedded in this.
1. While you are correct that everything is cheaper at home, the fact that 1 point of support in an argument is moot does not invalidate an entire argument. But I realize logic is not everyone's forte.
2. Offering what you think is a valid argument when it is not the poster's point at all is simply irrelevant.

What??? The person wanted a ceasar salad with salmon, not a salmon dinner with a caeser addon. What about that is going cheap. I cannot begin to tell you how many times my wife has ordered a caeser salad with salmon or chicken. That is not going cheap. In fact, it is rare occurence when I have seen a caeser salad as a menu item when I have not seen the add on price for chicken, salmon or shrimp listed.

Then there are numerous posts about the price of salmon. While the poster, in the midst of being shocked and irritated, might not have quoted an accurate price of salmon, all of those posts are ridiculous. AT THE RESTAURANT IN QUESTION, a salmon dinner is $26 and with an addon caeser apparently $32. A Salmon berry salad for $28. (I am trusting the verious posters are accurate, I don't actually know). The person asked (or was trying to ask)what the price of the salad would be with salmon. The answer he received was $23. Why would anyone think the price would be $35?? Did they use extra-special salmon for his salad that cost more than all of their other salmon dishes?

Again, a caeser salad with add on of chicken or salmon is ubiquitous. This person did not invent some strange menu item or try to get something for nothing. I would bet the restaurant is asked that question multiple times per day.

Really people. Someone has had 2 complaints in 5 years and that makes them a troll, chronic complainer or having an agenda? Are you saying that 7000 post such as those using faulty logic repeatedly and accusing others of faulty logic somehow is better? 2 posts that make sense outweigh 7000 posts that don't by a huge margin.

Some people are pathetic. Use the info of the original poster however you want or not at all. If you go there often and enjoy it and have no issues, post something like "it sux you had a bad experience there, but I have had nothing but good experiences there." Then people can make their own judgement call. But I think some folks just like to try to appear better than others. Just so you know, for those of us with our eyes open and able to think, it's not working.

Looked through your posts. Lots of complaints, mainly about what people post. I think being contrary to most postings/posters is more of a troll and worthy of disregard than 2 complaints in 5 years. But carry on.

Could not agree more- too many here make it their pastime to denigrate and belittle and play "gotcha" to other posters instead of providing substance

The OP was just giving all a heads up. If you find a need to check his profile history to determine the validity of his complaint, then go buy the 23$ salmon add-on.. Give the guy a break, you may be a bit too anal..

Not sure about your math. The two egg breakfast was $9.49. Adding a pancake was an additional $8.99. The pancake was very good though.

Your original post was ambiguous. You didn't give the price of the two egg breakfast.
Had the two egg breakfast at Keke's. Asked for an additional pancake, surprised at the bill when it was $8.99.

I thought the word "it" referred to the bill - not to the price of the pancake. I can't believe anyplace charges $8.99 for a pancake. That would be a ripoff.

I checked the prices at Cracker Barrel. Three pancakes are $8.69.

https://www.crackerbarrel.com/menu/breakfast-all-day#

I also checked the price of pancakes at Darrell's. $4.99 for a full stack and $4.49 for a short stack. At Reveille, an order is $7.59. According to Keke's website, three pancakes are $10.29.

Menu — Keke's Breakfast Cafe

And the price at TPC Sawgrass for pancakes is $12. Assume that it is at least two and probably three.

I think $8.99 for a pancake is worse than $23 for salmon.

sorry that rant was just in general to many posters over different threads that have been annoyed with the cups ,I just happened to use yours ,I should have made it just a stand alone post

Agree ! For those out there with some background in human psychology and personality; it's sometimes interesting to ponder comments at a deeper than surface level. Not trying to get too "Freudian", but according to statistics this is a community with a higher than average educational level, so most have probably at least had one psychology course post high school. Why DO (some) people have to have the "last word" ? Why DO (some) people refute the experiences of others, but give no foundational evidence ? Why do people feel compelled to give advice NOT asked for and/or do all they can to insist others do as they have done ? (LEAVE your "stuff" where you are, buy all NEW "STUFF" here.... obviously that made one person very happy, another might experience deep regret). The point of this is there are much better ways to express one's self. One of the best is to is to "share" a thought or opinion, NOT issue a written directive in a manner to (as you said) belittle others. For extreme examples of this type of personal insecurity, there is an on line "news paper" that posts every negative they can find concerning the villages (not so much about other retirement communities, but some). Reading the "comments" following the "articles" is most enlightening, and illustrates the EXTREME need some have to "trash" others in an attempt to feel better about their own life, choice of location, career, etc. Calling an entire population of ANY retirement community, or town, or traditional development such things as "idiots", "entitled trash", "drunks", etc. only illustrates the internal issues of the writer ! To a lesser degree, some posters on totv's are going to display the same characteristics, elevating themselves (in their own minds) not by the wisdom of their thoughts, but by diminishing others. When people begin comments with "YOU"..... that can be a red flag. When people post comments with ... I or We... and then relate their experience, it is a more civil exchange of ideas ! "YOU should cook at home then", or "YOU should move as soon as possible" say a lot about the poster. Writing "We have found buying quality ingredients and preparing fine dining experiences at home has given us a whole new hobby" is a far better way to express the same thought then beginning with YOU should do this or that. Rather than "just move, get out", could post: "If I really was as unhappy as you relate about circumstances here, I think I would begin to explore other locations and communities, no use spending your last years in unhappiness". So, just some examples of how people "could" write when they make posts, and be less abrasive, insulting, and self-righteous.... IMHO, which may be useless !

The Lighthouse location would be a great place for a casual seafood restaurant.
