Default adios to another restaurant

We used to be frequent fliers @Hemmingways; but after this afternoon . unless they change their menu and get a bar person who looks at you like you're not chopped liver.

Came in with all expectations of eating a nice ,meal, ordered our drinks--after looking at the menu for 30 minutes -said there's nothing-thought about ordering another round of drinks-then we said we're out of here.

Well, went to Arnold Palmer-Jim welcomed us-- had a great meal @ the bar--Arnold & staff got $150+ Hemmingways got zilch due another staff person who picked up our bar tab

Hemming ways get your act together--a big clue is when Whitney bailed

Mr. Chatbrat, I recognize that you are a gourmet and assuredly know which side of the hill, month year, that your grape, hops, wheat were grown on and in all ways enjoy paying the top amount for the best food and spirits. However,

You continue to be disappointed here in The Villages, and I feel it will continue. I am going to offer a suggestion; Try cooking at home. If you need a little or a lot of advice, buy this cookbook, written by expert cooks from Cincinnati, Ohio. The Joy of Cooking is considered the go to book for many gourmet cooks. Remember that the simplest foods with the fewest ingredients are often the best. Crème Brulee is very simple to make and quite yummy, as is steak tar tar, and a simple pasta recipe with good olive oil and fresh herbs and garlic and a good cheese.

If he ate at home he wouldn't be able to post complaints about the restaurants in The Villages.

Your words on 4/14/17 "There are IMHO only 3 CC left to eat out in TV--Hemingways, Nancy Lopez and the Cane Garden-- I too, have to agree with the original poster--Arnold has declined in quality & volume--"

I know that a man who shows me his wealth is like the beggar who shows me his poverty; they are both looking for alms from me, the rich man for the alms of my envy, the poor man for the alms of my guilt.

Chat is absolutely correct, I tried ordering a Dalmore 62 and the bartender had no clue.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but if you need good pasta recipes, I recommend my employer's web site, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, and Recipes | Barilla. I started working for Barilla one year ago, and the web site has many great pasta recipes.

And during my visits to The Villages, I have only had one not very good meal; I guess I lack a gourmet palate. Looking forward to eating at City Fire, Cane Garden and other Village restaurants next month.

We hope you will have time to come and see us while you are here. So hoping that your dream will come true soon and you will live here with all of us in lower paradise.

Two of these, 3 slices of rye w/butter and I'm happy. Never have to leave a tip or complain of the service.

If Chatbrat enjoys dining out and will pay the price for an excellent meal -- good for him! He casually mentions simply having a "nice meal" and nothing about being a gourmand or a specialist in any type of booze.

All one has to do is read the tons of threads about restaurants and it's easy to see how many residents are disappointed in the quality of restaurants and/or their food. One problem is many restaurants are not consistent in the food they turn out. Mentioning he cook at home is not a suggestion or an alternative to "dining out!" He did mention that he had an excellent meal at Arnold Palmer, so to say he will always be disappointed is erroneous.

The cookbook, "Joy of Cooking" was written and compiled by Irma Rombauer, from St. Louis, Missouri not "expert cooks from Cincinnati, Ohio." It is an excellent, excellent cookbook but has never been considered a "gourmet" cookbook. My book is an old sixth edition.

Creme brulee is not a simple recipe; actually, it is a pain in the neck to make, if done correctly. That, as well as steak tartare and pasta with olive oil, herbs, garlic and cheese while good, would never be considered gourmet.

Chatbrat is not the only person to give Hemingway's a thumbs down. I look forward to his comments about other restaurants.
