Default Amelia's in the Waterfront In

I have been going to Amelia's since they opened in October of 2007 about twice a month. The view and setting can not be beat. The restaurant had a rough opening with service, but the North Carolina "Southern" menu has been consistent and growing. They have expanded the menu based on what Village Residents have asked for. This includes the best happy hour in The Villages 3-7:30 pm $1.50 beer and $2.00 well liquor. I lunch with my ladies group monthly and they have always been very accommodating. They have also expanded the seating outside. I think that the prices are very reasonable for such a beautiful, upscale place. It is the best kept secret in The Villages!

You're right about the view being beautiful, but I've been there twice...first time couldn't get in (right after opening) and the second time with some lady friends for lunch. Not too impressed with the food or the prices or the inside dining set up. Very noisy. I felt the prices are high (but typical for a hotel restaurant) for what you get.

We gave Amelia's many chances because the view is spectacular. Last time was a disaster. Waitress was complaining how long of a day she had, 4 people barged in ahead of us without waiting to be seated and the staff did nothing about it. I ordered crab cakes which came with only fries. The waitress explaned that they were out of the slaw sauce which is what makes the meal - I should have been told this in the beginning so I might have had the option of ordering something else. Sorry, Amelia's you are lucky you are in that beautiful hotel with the spectacular view, or you'd be out of business.

Went there yesterday with a group of ladies and was sick all evening. Something did not agree with me...had the open face turkey sandwich which was quite disappointing.

I go there with a group of ladies monthly and always have good food and great service. Lunch has been consistent, I have also been to Amelia's for dinner and there we had a service issue once, but the food has always been excellent. (the server we had is no longer with them) I like the setting and if I'm there with my ladies or my husband I always have a good time. I can't say that about anywhere else in TV. They always make my ladies group feel welcome, not like a burden. We have walked into some restaurants and I swear the servers are glaring at us!

Sally, do you work for Amelia's or associated with them in any way? If so, why not buy an ad from our admins?

In April I stayed at the Waterfront during my TV visit and I was very impressed with Amelia's. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere quite good. Service was good and I especially appreciate how they treated the small groups of ladies having lunch. Seemed like they were very accommodating and the ladies had a good time.

The next day, Nonie and I had lunch on the veranda (Chels joined us later) and the atmosphere and view were fantastic. Made for a lovely luncheon for us g/friends.

I like the place and plan to visit more often. Kathie

Food was delicious, and service good. Eating outside provides a peaceful & picturesque setting. Company wasant too bad either! LOL

We went there today for the crabcakes. They were small but fairly good. The wait staff was attentive.

Just out of curiosity, is the view from Amelia's more spectacular than the view from Up the Creek, RJ Gator's or the Lighthouse because it is more spectacular or more expensive?

We enjoyed Lighthouse as well. Nice selection for lunch and lots of room outside (It was late April though).

Side Story - While we were enjoying our lunch there was a table of 3 people next to us who worked for Amelia's. I don't think it was any indictment on their establishment, probably just wanted to enjoy a 'drink' and maybe they couldn't do that while they are working?
