Default Catering

I am looking for someone to do the catering for my hubbys retirement party. It will be at one of the rec. centers. Can anyone advise me on a local resturant who does this? Have you used them before?

Thanks in advance !!

Too Jay's very good, great service. I used Lake Sumter Landing location.

We attended a birthday party last night at Paradise Recreation Center with approximately 100 in attendance. It was catered by Oakwood Smokehouse. They served ribs, pulled pork, chicken and many sides. It was very good. There was something for all tastes. They put BBQ sauce on the end of the buffet line it was your choice.

Our friends did a western theme and decorated accordingly. The room was transformed in a few hours and it was unbelievable. A fun evening was had by all.

Publix has a great catering service. Mrs. Flacco is the contact person.

We've been to parties catered by both of the above (Oakwood and TwoJays). We enjoyed the food and helpers at both.

I belong to a neighborhood club and we have used Oakwood and also Bob Evans. Both were very good but we actually used Bob Evans more as they brought food, set up, and also served.

Red Sauce had wonderful food and great service at a party we attended. Of course much depends on what the hosts choose for a menu.

Oakwood delivered, set up and served the food at the party I attended Saturday night. I guess it depends on what you request and pay for from the business. I didn't know Bob Evans catered. That is good to know too.

I think you should understand that there seem to be different rules around The Villages as to catering!

Once upon a time, the only caterer allowed was La Hacienda - a Developer-connected outfit.

Now, I believe that outside caterers are allowed, BUT there may be restrictions.

I advise that you discuss what you want with the folks at the Rec Center you want, to be sure that they can accommodate your catererer, as well as your booze provider!

Some of the rules allow the caterer to deliver to your chosen rec center, but your club memebrs must serve (and clean up). Then, I believe there are rules which allow you to hire a caterer who will do it all!

My bottom line is: If you want to have a party (private or not) at a Villages facility, sit down with a Villages representative and work out the details/ramifications! In the long run, I think you'll find a totally acceptable outfit!

Sounds very reasonable. Just last week, attended The Village Cup team pickings, with Hacienda Catering doing the catering. Food was well done, with hamburgers well done and rolls that were old. Looked like they cooked them at noon for evening BBQ!! Chicken was hard to chew, and the person manning the beer station, had a faulty connector on keg, and couldn't get it to work good, which resulted in a long line for golfers. I was surprised, because last year, I thought it was so much better.
