Looking great to reside in Glenbrook.. Need a convenient go to, for fast takeout, so tired of Taco Bell,... Looking forward to the Culver's fish offerings.... Wendys fish sandwich, throwaway garbage,.. sad, that I can tell you, believe me......

Went to Culvers this last week when we were home in Ohio and it wasn't as good as I remembered. The fish was really greasy.

That's so sad to hear! Hopefully it was a one time event!
I drove past the one here today. Two cars were parked each pointed a different direction, in the drive-thru. Saw quite a few cars parked in their lot---wondered if they were training OR were having a soft-opening. Would love to go to a s.o.!!! Won't be going the 1st few days, for sure, as I'm sure it will be "slammed"!

Most restaurant reviews work that way.

Toxic bell and burger queen might as well fold now. I never been to a bad toxic bell as the one in southern trace. Burger King for me mostly miss, occasionally during the 15 rush hour around noon you can get fries warm and not microwaved vulgar. No I didn't misspell it!

Chatbrat 04-13-2018 12:21 AM

Drive one more mile west & go to Wawa

Mleeja 04-20-2018 12:28 PM

Tried Culver’s today. Still very crowded, but they had 4 or 5 people taking orders so the wait time to order was minimal. I would guess it was another 5 or 10 minutes to get our food. Today was a very pleasant day to sit in the outside dining area.

I had a bacon double butter burger, fries and a chocolate shake. My wife had a single butter cheeseburger, and 2 scoops of chocolate custard. All was very good. There are quite of few menu items I would like to try, so we will be back.

One thing I would like to see. The shakes are very thick. They need a larger diameter straw. We have them at home. I think I will just bring my own straw next time.

No more straws! They are all ending up in the Oceans. Seattle has banned them.

Bring a spoon! We all gotta do our parts...

We see that Culvers has adopted the SteaknShake method, of beating 4 oz. Of meat paper-thin. Parking lot was crazy, line long right now, burger good, fries good, cost more than S & S, eat off paper, cups paper. Hope all my Cheese head friends aren't mad but that's a NC opinion.

I wasn't going to say anything -- you know "if you don't have something nice to say ... etc". But since you made the comparison, after lunch today at Culver's, DH asked me if I found anything that differentiates Culvers from Steak n Shake and I had no answer.

alwann 04-20-2018 02:50 PM

Went there today, at 3:00 p.m. I think they made enough today to pay first years rent. Never seen such a crowd. All ages. Drive-thru lane was backed up to the street. I'll go again when the blush is off the rose, because they have the best frozen custard ever.

Chatbrat 04-20-2018 04:12 PM

Have never set foot in a S&S , don't think we'll be going to a Culver's either--if I was in my teens and 20's and had the metabolism I used to have --would give it a shot--but its not for a health conscience 75 year old

I predict S&S will lose 1/3 of they're business, Mickey Ds half, BK and toxic bell might as well close now IMO. :icon_hungry:;)

Again-go past 301-try Wawa--can't beat their breakfast -sandwiches & coffee variety

Seattle has banned plastic straws and plastic utensils effective July 1st of this year .However biodegradable straws [ paper ] and biodegradable utensils [ wooden ] are allowed .

Locals are also being encouraged to hollow out a stick and carry it with them in lieu of straws and to eat with their hands instead of using the biodegradable utensils .

The city council is also considering passing an ordinance to
ban the brushing and flossing of teeth as it uses too much water and the used flossing material is an unnecessary addition to the city's solid waste management efforts .

Meanwhile , not to be undone , the California State Legislature encouraged by Gov. Brown is expected to enact a statewide ban on the use of paper products , utensils and cups in all fast food restaurants across the Golden State . Patrons will be encouraged to fold one hand to receive a legal drink portion * in one hand while receiving their food in another .

* Under the new law any drink from a fast food establishment may not exceed 4 ounces as this has been determined by state engineers to fit into the cupped hand of the average adult citizen . Children may use both hands to receive a drink up to the age of 12 .

No worries, when 3 Culver’s opened near our home up north, the parking lot looked just as it does now. But year later it’s the same as any other fast food line. All the other fast foods are still doing good business. When Culver’s sends out its coupons buy one get one, the sales soar back to grand opening days. Then slows down to a normal pace.

It will never look like BK parking lot:beer3:

I've never been to a Culver's so 2 days ago was my first experience. I CAN'T wait to go back. I won't have a single burger next time, definitely a double. It was very good, clean, great service. YUMMMMM

I tried a double burger with bacon for the first time. I do not like fast food all that much but this was actually quite good. Not sure how healthy but I doubt if I will get Culver's very often.

Calories 850.. if you go drive through you don’t notice the calorie/nutrition numbers as much.

We were there this afternoon around 3...business was brisk but not slammed like at noon! I think they'll do just fine, even after the new-ness is off. Met the owner and he's---he's young and enthusiastic.

From the comments---it's like any restaurant---folks will either love/like it or hate it. Even hear stuff in the midwest where this one originated. Still, I think they're a better choice than McD's or the other similar ones. Once they get their salads back---you can have more healthy choices too or have the grilled chicken and a healthy side! Noone is forced to eat the deep-fried items!!

4 ounces that's all you will legally be able to purchase under the proposed state-wide ordinance . No idea how a patron will be expected to accept hot coffee in their bare hand .

If it passes in the Golden State and seems to be accepted then transplanted Californians who have improved the lives of many in Colorado , Washington and Oregon and in parts of Texas and most recently Idaho are prepared to lobby hard for similar legislation .

You might want to research that a little more.

Culvers has very good salads! Hope you are all enjoying the new Culvers in The Villages. I am overdue for visiting the Culvers near me in suburban Chicago.

It will never be golf cart accessible. More room for people who drive cars.

That sounds accurate. Too expensive to put a golf cart bridge over 301.

The server at Culver's said he was privileged to serve me and the guy who took my order said something I did not quite catch. Now that is attention. Culver's has a different drive through than I am used to. Lots of charming smiling teenagers it looked like.

However, New York is one of the most incredible places in the world - art, music, museums, restaurants, and so much more. All of this is just in the city of New York! Yes, the cost of living - including taxes - is very high. There are many negatives as well (crowds, dirt, noise, crime). But NYC is a very special place as described in this piece talking about tourists from other countries coming to visit the U.S.

"Of the top 10 states that foreign travelers visited the most in 2013, New York accounts for 30.5% of all those visitors. Even though the state doesn’t have the advantage of warm weather all year around, it does provide a cultural experience, history and entertainment that is unmatched by any other place in America. If you’re a big fan of theatrical productions, you can see the world’s best shows on Broadway. If you want to see historic monuments, the Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous of all time.

Big time sports fan? How about the mecca of basketball; Madison Square Garden. Big fan of music? The most famous bands in the world have played in the same arena before. Heck, it’s dubbed as the world’s most famous arena. Even aside from New York City, if you somehow get bored from being in the city that doesn’t sleep, eating at some of the world’s finest restaurants and hanging out at Times Square, you could always visit one of the neighboring states adjacent to New York, one of the most densely populated areas in the world. With so many reasons to visit New York it’s no wonder people come in droves from all over the world and will continue to do so again and again."

But since this is about restaurants, here is a list of the top 50 in the U.S. Just over half of them are in New York. Best restaurants in America - Business Insider

Sounds great....! But in looking at those plates then looking around at the general population, I doubt they'd go over very quickly in these here parts.

You have given an accurate description of why NYC is so great. And i agree with your assessment. But it doesn't answer topspinmo's question of why are there so many New Yorkers down here. So I'm guessing it is the weather.
