Default Arby's

I'm considering this a public service announcement.

Arby's has a new BLT with brown sugar bacon. I got a coupon and was suckered in by the photo, which, come on! Turns out the bacon is not piled four stories high. Also turns out that, tasty as the bacon was, I prefer a BLT on toasted bread. The bun was too much.

All this did was prompt me go buy the ingredients to make my own and now I'm on a BLT kick.

This is why I can't be a vegetarian. Now I'm Off to make a BLT. No. Wait a minute? I'm good. Morningstar veggie bacon.

I agree that BLT on a bun would be too much to cope with!

So happy today that Dunkin Donuts in NJ beach towns have started to serve pork roll/egg/cheese sandwiches for the summer! Will still hafta do the DIY version when we return to The Villages!

Default Arby's

I vaguely remember learning about truth in advertising laws. Some creative leeway is acceptable. The Fed Trade Commission says we're smart enough to see the ploy. But I'm with you. It has always bugged me that sandwich ads for Arby's, McDonalds and others --especially Subway -- show yummy, overstuffed delights, and what you get is some flat, skimpy, steamed thing. The first time I ever got an Arby's roast beef, I had to ask the server, "Does this even qualify as meat?"

And why is it even called a BLT? Everyone knows the lettuce goes on top of the tomato. Call it a LTB or a BTL so a newbie knows what to expect. Talk about truth in advertising.

Athens Restaurant in Spanish Springs has pork roll/egg/cheese sandwiches, although the roll is not quite the same as NJ. (OP...sorry to hijack your post!)

I've never heard of a pork roll, with or without egg and cheese, but I'm definitely intrigued!

And oh for the old days when Freedman's supplied the Kneips hard rolls for those tasty sandwiches. I prefer mine with a little thinly sliced raw onion also

Definitely not for the "feint of heart" or any other clogged bodily vessel!

I always get a kick, out of how they holdmthe burgers or sandwiches and also wonder if they use models with small hands.

Ah, I see. Not being a fan of Spam or even bologna, I think you just saved me a trip to Spanish Springs.
