Default Christmas Eve at Chop House

Only at an FMK Restaurant!

Reservation for 6:45. Confirmed by unsolicited Text Messages from Chop House 3 times, reminding me to be on time.

Got there at 6:30 and was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. No problem.

6 people working the Host Desk.

Got seated at 7:20 pm. One couple who checked in before us, was still waiting and not patiently.

Were told: "The special drink on the menu isn't available, it didn't come out like we thought it would. Also, the special dessert on the menu, isn't available". "Also, we're out of Baked Potatoes".

After waiting 20 minutes for a glass of wine, spent another 20 minutes, waiting to place our order.

Waiter comes over to take our order. "BTW, we're out of the 5 oz & 8 oz Filet Mignon.". [The menu has about 6 "Pork Entrees" on it and 1 Chicken Entree. What's up with that?].

We overhear a conversation between staff. "We found another box of 6 oz Filets".

We both order Filet.

Order comes to the table at 8:25.

My daughter gets a reasonably decent piece of Filet Mignon. I'm served some ridiculous cut of what I believe to be, "Flank Steak". Doesn't look, cut or taste like Filet Mignon ... not even close.

I've been in a lot of restaurants and have never seen a more disorganized operation than the Chop House, nor had a worse holiday experience at a restaurant. To say nothing of their over-priced menu, lousy food and are surrounded by people who think it's ok to got to an expensive restaurant on Christmas Eve, wearing their pajamas.

To their credit, staff and management were very apologetic ... of course they had a lot of practice, as every person in the restaurant was expecting an apology for corporate incompetence.

Not very well planned, especially with all having a reservation.

I cannot understand a restaurant that is unable to meet their reservation times reasonably well. Ten to fifteen minutes, sure, but thirty five minutes? Maybe if a place just opened or if this is their first holiday but neither are the case for Chop House.

How do you run out of steak and baked potatoes at a steak house, especially when you take reservations and have a good idea how many people will be served? Did they have a table that ordered four baked potatoes each??

I'm usually critical of bad restaurant reviews, they often seem to come from customers who will just never be happy. But not being able to meet reservation times and running out of staple food items, especially on an special night like Christmas Eve, is all on the restaurant.
