Default Fried oysters dinner

We are having company and I'd like to find a place that has a great fried oysters dinner. Are there any places that you can recommend that you've been to recently?

oysters are out of season. Saw them for sale at Brownwood farmer's market this morning-must have been frozen

If they are in the shell, you cannot freeze them. Freezing will kill them. Oysters are available year round, but some people say that you should only eat them in months that end in an "R". But, I am not convinced that makes any sense.

Also, you should only drink alcohol on days that end in a "Y".

The Union Oyster House in Boston serves oysters year round.

There's a new seafood place in Leesburg called New England Seafood Shack on CR27 at CR 48 in the Winn Dixie Plaza in Leesburg.

The owners are from Rhode Island and it's very good.

Two places I know serve them is Coastal Del Mar in Spanish Springs and Oyster Troff in Eustis. Call to make sure they don't skip the summer months. Depends on how far you want to drive.

You can easily hunt all the restaurants by going to The Villages Gourmet Club Search Page (LINK) and enter the the words "fried oyster" in Section 4c, then hit SEARCH. I found many restaurants that mention those words. Or try just "oyster" and you'll find more. Great resource !

I would highly recommend Oyster Troff for fried oysters, but especially for raw oysters on the half shell.

I have a few thousand growing at my dock on the Chesapeake Bay. We enjoy them year round. I just go get a bucket full and shuck or roast. They are the best!

O'Shucks on 301. It looks like a scary dive so why would anyone go there? Maybe it's because of the great Oysters and other food?

I'll add County Line Smokehouse on 25 to my favorite "divey but great food" list.
