Default Fujiyama - how to not run a restaurant

A friend and I had lunch today at the new Fujiyama restaurant in Pinellas Place. There were no customers except us. But, there were 4 children at a table who were apparently children of an employee or the owner. They made so much noise that it was difficult to talk and there was no place to sit where we wouldn't hear them. The food was fair, but we will never go back. They obviously spent a lot of money to create a nice serene environment, but ruined it with those kids.

??????

Even though this is a retirement community, we still have kids around.

Thank Goodness. I like them. AND they can be noisy.

But if you feed them and take good care of them some of them grow up to do amazing things. Would you like to see pictures of my grandchildren?

These kids were not eating. The employee or owner was using the restaurant as a day care center. Would you pay $20 to eat lunch at a day care center? But, I would love to see your photos.

This made me smile. I love seeing kids. If they were really noisy to the point of being obnoxious, you might have asked an adult on staff to quiet them down a bit. I hope this new restaurant makes it. Namaste.

People don't seem to make their kids pipe down anymore. I do understand about noisy kids.

Maybe that is why there were no other customers.

Parenting in the US is all but nonexistent anymore. Many parents do not try to teach their children manners but let them disturb others until their little hearts are content. BTW I still enjoy quite quiet meals with children present when I dine in France.

OMG, I had the noisiest, WORST time in a French restaurant last spring with a bunch of unruly kids and their 30-something parents who refused to corral them, much less keep them quieted down. They were screaming so loudly I couldn't hear the person we had taken out to lunch, and running around the tables and knocking chairs over. Of course, the parents were completely unapologetic or respectful of the other diners. And this was an expensive resto.

Kids are the same everywhere. It's their parents who are the problem.

Us too, the 3 of us had the same experience and to make matters worst 2 of us became sick about 2-3 hours after lunch. I, for one, spent most of the night going back and forth to the loo - pretty weak the next morning - ugh. The food was mediocre at best - nope, not returning.

Thanks for the heads up, we'll pass on that restaurant. If I want to hear noisy kids I'll go sit at a park, a restaurant is about the last place I want to hear them. It is rude and shows the parents brought the kids up with little manners or concern for the environment they're in. It's truly a shame that the parents either can't control their own children or just don't care. And no, I don't want to see pictures of anyone's grandchildren...but I'll take a peek at grand dogs!

Sigh.

The oriental restaurants in Pinellas have the reputation of being the absolute worst restaurants in the villages--about a year ago my wife ordered a special "fish" dish for me--to eat for my birthday (take out)==took one bite and threw it into the disposal/

Because the kids are rude, I get rude back by putting my finger to my lips, saying ssshhh! I do this with a smile. It works.
