Default Glenview- what flexibility

Went to Glenview today for lunch after golf. The place was empty!

Ordered the lunch special, tuna on a croissant. Asked if I could have chicken salad on the croissant instead of tuna. Since they also have a chicken salad special. They refused saying we don't do that. Wow! No wonder the joint was empty. What ever happened to " the cusromer ia always right"? What a ****hole place!

I don't think I understand your post and I am not trying to bully you. If they had a chicken salad special and a tuna salad special and you wanted chicken salad...why didn't you order the chicken salad special? Perhaps the pricing had something to do with the price of croissants? They DO have a lunch special with drink, and salad and sandwich...perhaps the tuna was on that? That special is quite a deal if I remember correctly, the whole schmear is $7.95? Maybe because it was such a good price they didn't encourage changes?

My curiosity is probably gonna get me in the soup again.

Since they obviously had the chicken salad already made (as evidenced by the chicken salad special), and since it most likely costs less than tuna salad anyway....your request sounds more than reasonable.

All they had to do was to reach into the chicken salad bowl and spread it over the croissant, instead using the tuna salad bowl.

My guess is that you came across a server who was either lazy, or wasn't bright enough to understand how easy your request would have been to fill.

Too bad you didn't call a manager over, as even a poor manager should have been able to quickly realize how easy your order would be to fulfill...even if he tried to say that the chicken salad was more expensive than the tuna salad (which it obviously isn't) and quoted an up-charge. .

Here is the lunch menu. It does say no substitutions. The chicken salad sounds yummy. Served with apple slices. No wonder you like it. The price is lovely too.

When you go to Hacienda and order off the bar menu, do you ask them to put a piece of chicken on the $5 burger special instead of hamburger?
There's a reason there are no substitutions on a "special"! You're already getting a bargain!

If you go to Glenview for special burgers on Saturdays they only cook it one way because they are doing so many. I think it states no substitutions , that's just the way it is. A special is a special.

Tuna on croissant was their sandwich special of the day. Chicken salad on croissant WAS NOT their sandwich special of the day. When the menu says "no substitutions", don't try to make substitutions!

The customer is NOT always right! I have seen Villagers (as a group) all order ice water and then take out packs of Crystal Light lemonade in front of the server and stir it into their water. They were all very angry when the server called over the manager who told them they would be charged 75 cents each. This also was Glenview!

Glenview is a wonderful place to eat a very good meal at a very reasonable price. I have never been disappointed there.

Glenview is our local watering hole and we have never had a problem, but then we NEVER give them a problem - that helps!

Just looking at their lunch menu. A chicken salad sandwich is "not" even on their regular menu. There is a chicken salad salad but no sandwich.
