Tea Plantation Closed
Forgive me if this has already discussed, but does any one know whay the Tea Plantation Restaurant closed?
It was always a favorite of ours, especially when we had guests.

I liked it too. Hated to see it go. There was a previous thread about the Tea Plantation closing, but I don't know why it closed. The florist is still open and now there is a lovely gift shop where the restaurant was.

This is a sad loss of a place with a bit of quiet, southern ambience that we northerners enjoyed at the former Veranda Restaurant.
While I like Panera's food there, the ambience is stark and industrial inside. |

I liked it, but I can understand the "out of the way" comment. It wasn't on the Square. You actually had to GASP walk a block from the square to get there. I also think that a lot of men didn't want to eat there -- a little too "sissified" for them.

When were down on our lifestyle visit, I saw the Plantation Tea House but didn't really think of it as a place to go...wasn't sure exactly what it was, thought it was just a nice looking place to stop for a 'spot of tea' but wasn't sure hubby would like it.

from what I have heard, too many folks just assumed it was tea and crumpets and not their thing, hence a very small following.
If they had more recognition of offering good food as well as pub like refreshments, they might have had a larger following. I wonder if Too Jays or GarVino's or Tuscany Day Spa and Salon know they are in an out of the way area?  btk |
