I like Longhorn, and I go there occasionally. But, I don't order a steak at any restaurant anymore. I can buy a USDA Prime filet mignon at Publix, and cook it at home in about 8 minutes. Way better than any restaurant steak. As far as I know, no restaurant in the area serves USDA Prime filet mignon. Even Mark's in Ocala doesn't claim to serve USDA Prime filet mignon. Go figure.

ChopHouse in Sumter has several selections of prime, Stirrups serves prime, and Prime 3 steak house in Leesburg has some prime meat.

They have some Prime steaks, but none of them lists a Prime filet mignon on their menu.

Been to longhorn quite a few times and never got the bums rush.

probably not. Too many other places to eat.
Why post this? I do not care in the least about the details of your meals. And OF COURSE you just had to pat yourself re the tip. Who cares? Just a bunch of self-importance yada. omg.

Filet mignon is the most popular steak ordered in restaurants. I have read several steak house menus in the area, and, if you want a USDA Prime filet mignon, apparently, you need to go to Ruth Chris in Orlando, where all of their steaks are USDA Prime. Or, you can buy an 8 ounce Prime filet mignon at Publix or Sam's Club for about 15 dollars and cook it yourself. I like the local steak restaurants including Longhorn, but, when I go, I always order something other than a steak. I can't see paying 3 times as much for a steak of a lower quality beef than I serve at home. I remember about 10 years ago Outback starting offering a few higher quality steaks, but it didn't last long. Apparently, people weren't willing to pay the price.

Went once and never returned. They cover everything with a salt crust. Hated it.

Totally agree and I think the steak at Texas Roadhouse is worse.

Why do people criticize posters for posting? There is nothing evil or crazy in this post. I found it interesting and valuable. Someone needs to get a life.

I like Longhorn but my wife is not a fan, we both really like Texas Roadhouse, just wish we could get there by gold cart. Outback is a distant third for us.

On the bright side--someone didn't have to look too hard for something to be p!ssed off about today.

Did it occur to you that someone’s ox is being gored with the “critique”? Probably is one of the staff or affiliated with the owner.

I enjoy reading restaurant reviews. They are very interesting and informative, positive or negative. I don't understand why some people think that restaurants need to be protected against criticism. And, tippng is a gratuity, or gift, with the amount to be determined by the customer. I think it is wrong to tell someone how much to tip and why they should or should not tip a certain amount.
