Salt is an appetite stimulant. It "encourages your body" to want more food.

Also, be sure to check the "added sugar" row on the nutrients. Most vegetables and fruit have sugar naturally in reasonable levels (American Diabetes Association recommends fruit in diabetics diet). However, they often ADD more refined sugar of various forms to get you to buy more. When a CEO of a major food producer was asked if he knew he was killing people, his response was, "not my fault, I simply supply what sells best"... ahem...

I agree, in fact I mentioned that the people here can afford to eat better, they choose not too eat better, and go the McDs.

But MOST of McD's customer are below middle income. And often working more than 2 jobs.

Just curious how do you know this about their customers? When our kids were little we went to fast food places very often as little kids did not have the patience to sit over a leisurely meal and did not want to subject others to loud noises. They were well behaved but did like to sing in a loud voice from time to time.

What do you consider eating better? Most upscale restaurants use large amounts of salt and fats(usually butter) to improve the taste of their food.

Back in the 60's there was a scientist who developed something called The Bliss Point which was the optimal level of Sugar in soft drinks. A level that was not too much and not too little. The perfect amount to get you to come back for more.

That concept has moved on to all kinds of processed foods with added sugars in them as well as things like Fat and Salt.

Even items like Yogurt with fruit in it have added sugar.

Unfortunately in their efforts to make us come back they give us all kinds of unhealthy additions to their meals.

When we were younger then, I grew up in a single-wage earner family and my mother cooked MOST meals. I would mow neighborhood yards for a quarter ($0.25) with a push mower to earn enough to go to that NEW restaurant that sold burgers for $0.15!

LOL. It probably was, but it wouldn't be funny to an ISO 9000 certification company.

MacDonalds is fine as long as you only order the side salad (with no salad dressing) and black coffee ;-)

Actually some are different in what you order.

Been to one or two that would only sell pancakes at same price as pancakes with sausage. Since we do not eat pork asked about and said that is how it comes.

Spoke to manager and no satisfaction. Did not seem fair but said ok ordered something else and crossed that store off our list. Complained at Mcdonalds website and got a call from the store owner and said that is her policy.

I think their best product is the Egg McMuffin. And, they have good coffee for less than a third of the price of the sit down places. Also, they provide better service and don't even expect a tip.
