I am thinking about purchasing tickets for an upcoming dinner show and was curious as to how loud the music can get during a show. Does it help to sit in the back away from the stage?

It depends on the show. But, I have been there when is was so loud, that I had to cancel a dinner I ordered at the bar, and leave immediately because my ears were literally in pain.

I've been to several shows and it is toned down to a "reasonable" level. I sit very near the stage if it's available. About like sitting near the back at one of the squares. You definitely wont be able to converse during the music. FAR from hurting your ears though.
If you want soft music and good conversation this is not for you. If you want a good show and to talk in between sets then you will probably enjoy it.

We have been there several times and like sitting close to the stage so we can get up and dance. We don't find the music load.

The music is loud enough so you can not converse with your fellow diners, especially if you are seated by the stage.
