Novelchick, Graciegirl and nONIE,
You three may want to take a short drive to have lunch at Yalaha Bakery. It's not far, and it is very good: http://www.yalahabakery.com/index.html Check the map on their website. Genießen, Dirigo

It is about a 40 minute drive but well worth it. Pork, Chicken and Veal Schnitzel, Wurst Platters, Kassler Rippchen, Kielbasa, homemade spaetzle that you can cover in brown gravy(or not), red cabbage, kraut and homemade apple strudel is a must for dessert. They also have a variety of other food for those who do not favor these German specialties like steaks, prime rib, seafood, and parmigiana. They have been around since 1981. You start with a soup and bread bar before you receive your entree. Quaint place with lace curtains - nothing fancy. Most entrees around $10-$12.

Yes, Dinner Bell is the closest thing to a Bohemian/German restaurant that I've been to around here. (They hv the best shrimp!!)
Born and raised in Chicago, living in the 'burbs, plenty of good Bohemian and Polish restaurants around. Living part time here in TV, I miss that the most. As long as I'm complaining, where the heck are the casinos?!? There were Indians here, weren't there? |
