Default Havana Business License Expiring?

The website of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation currently shows the Havana Club's business license expires today, 02/01/2014. I am not sure how often they update their website but I am sure that there will not be an update over the weekend.

Probably wishful thinking on my part, but I can only hope that change for the better is imminent.

Are they open for business today? If so, they could be operating without a license.

DBPR does show that the Havana Club has a Permanent Food Service - Seating license, License # SEA7000507, which expires 2/01/2014. It also shows that nine(9) inspections were conducted during 2013 - 5 Routine and 4 as a result of a Complaint. Five of those inspections required a follow-up inspection.

I wonder if anyone knows if there is a grace period. Let's say 30-days, or something on the expiration of the license.

After all, it was almost sold over Christmas, but that deal fell thru due to $.

I'm guessing that's why they didn't renew in time. They didn't think that they would be the owners.

Just wondering...

Today the website still shows the same license expiration date but has changed the status to "Delinquent, Active." Are they just delinquent in timely renewal of the license? I wonder how long the are allowed to continue operating with a delinquent license?

In most jurisdictions, a "business license" is a mere formality or in other words, a source of revenue and a stick to beat the business with if needed.

Sorry to inform you but Havana buys their liquor through the developer and has not paid his bill in quite a while. The liquor license in under litigation.

We actually have liked eating there and the music is amazing. We've had some special food requests and they have been very accommodating.
