So, did you see the price on the menu before ordering it? I can’t wait to hear that answer…..

Well just met friends for lunch at Havana. Had their onion gratin soup with 1/2 sandwich. $13.95
Larger than a cup smaller than their usual crock bowl. Which I have had numerous times. Soup had a piece of bread right out of the package, like wonder bread. With cheese melted. Under the questionable bread was more bread cut up again right out of the bag. Removed the top bread and the half slice of cubes. What was left was 4 pieces of onion and 4 spoons of broth. This was nothing like they have served in years past. Management noticing the dissected bread on my plate, that I pushed away, Asking if he could remove the entire meal from the table, two managers came to the table apologizing that Bread prep was incorrectly prepared, as was the soup. I opted not to reorder since everyone was finished. I would attribute to busy lunch but inside had 4 tables occupied at 2:30. Hopefully kitchen just had a bad day. It’s the only restaurant I order onion soup

I just looked at six menus around the Villages and six more at Disney World. Other than Palmer's, there was no French Onion Soup priced higher than $9 in the Villages or $14 at Disney (including Chula's and Chefs de France). Why would the OP *not* be surprised at the $18 price?

At a diner for breakfast customer orders today’s special, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, has browns and a biscuit for about $8. Then says put a little gravy on the biscuit. Order comes food is good the the bill arrives with a $2.95 charge for a side order of biscuit and gravy. Gouging is everywhere, and at all price points.

From page 1, he did not look up the price as he ordered soup to go later on. He accepts that it is his own fault for not checking (my interpretation.) But seriously, who would expect a cup of soup, or even a bowl, to be $18!

You pay for what you order, restaurants sell food , anybody wanting extra this or that should pay. Restaurants include condiments in their menu pricing .Everything else is a charge.Thats how it works.

Just think how fortunate you are to have the option to order an $18.00 bowl of soup, count your blessings that you can make that choice. Does not make sense to me to order at that price and then post a comment to complain about the price

OP posted he added soup after his initial order. Admit didn’t check the price, or ask? The thread is about is Soups for $18 seems out of the ordinary. Reading Both of OPs posts should have cleared that up. But….

Caramelized sweet onions enhanced with sherry and fresh thyme, slowly simmered in a rich homemade stock, finished with a garlic crostini and gruyere cheese. Cup 8 • Bowl 15 is what the menu says. |

$20 for 40 chicken nuggets and 2 fries at Chez McDonalds. Gotta love that The Villages has finally caught up to EU pricing. Can't wait til voting booths open in T V!

You can do better real chicken tenders at PDQ

?? Nuggets are $0.80 each and tenders are $1.60 each at PDQ.
Haven't been to McD's in a very long time but less than $0.50/nugget doesn't seem out of line.

As long as you enjoy minced meat that may or may not contain chicken byproducts, or fillers. At least PDQ is a chicken tender. Real food for a quick service price.
