Default Anyone with recent experience at Burke's BBQ?

Visiting son-in-law wants BBQ and that's the closest. I read the thread from when they first opened, but does anyone have any updates? We passed it last night on our way to Windy Acres for their "Bulls 'n Barrels" and there were hardly any cars. Are they still "working the kinks out"???

Sadly, it has deteriorated. I used to love it and happily recommended it, even with a kink or two. Not anymore.

Went there for breakfast twice. Coffee was not always in machine, had to be refilled. The bacon was delicious. Only whole one kind of toast.

Hubby bought a Traeger smoker and we are in fish, pork, beef, vegies, happiness.

My experience was that the barbecued ribs were very dry. I personally would never go back. Oakwood, Woody's and Sonny's were better. Oakwood is a good choice.

The few times I have been able to be in TV, I've noticed the same thing - very few vehicles. Not a good sign; I tried a re-opened "mom and pop" in north KC last week and there was only two vehicles there; after the meal, I wished had found another place.

We all enjoy Oakwood very much. I bet your son in law would too.

Burke's just catered an event for our neighborhood Saturday and it was delicious, pulled pork, pulled chicken, beans and coleslaw. They have a masonry barbeque pit, I think it is very good, my husband is a southern boy and in his opinion has been his favorite place around here for BBQ. Tim Burke and his wife served the food and did a great job, very positive feedback from all of our guests. We like supporting the local businesses.

Tried Burke's twice. Never ever going back. With the new Fruitland Park Village i'm sure they will get plenty of unsuspecting new villagers to try it.

We love Oakwood, but Burke's is good, too. One of my college roommates was in the hotel school, and she said that if restaurants have good coffee and clean restrooms, they care about the details. Burke's has the cleanest restrooms I have ever seen.
