Thumbs up Christmas Buffet at Harbor Lights

Some of you may not have heard of Harbor Lights, since it is "off campus". It's about 30-45 minutes drive, over on Lake Panasoffkee. We enjoyed their Christmas buffet very much. Lots of good, hot, food, including turkey, ham roast beef, lamb shanks and fried shrimp, plus all the sides you would expect and then some (homemade noodles and pineapple fritters....yum), including a nice assortment of desserts. $22.95 per person, plus tip and beverages.

Our waiter told us to take our time, eat all we wanted and enjoy ourselves. We did!

It was our first time there, but I overheard an employee telling another guest they have a similar buffet every weekend, when not a holiday, for $11.95. I'm not a big buffet fan, but my husband is. I'm sure we'll go back and maybe even make it a Christmas tradition.

My only disappointment was the wine selection. To be fair, though, I didn't ask for a wine list. I just asked what they had by the glass. Maybe they have something better if you go for a bottle. I was driving, so....no big deal. I only had half a glass anyway.

We had Christmas Eve lunch/dinner at Peck's Old Port in Crystal River. That was wonderful, too, but there have been many mentions of Peck's on here, so I don't have anything new to add. We will definitely go back, particularly when we have visitors from out of state.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Harbor Lights in 2012 with friends. We walked around afterward, very pretty surroundings. We found the food to be OK, and we enjoyed the time we spent there. But it's a little far for us to drive when we have no many great places right in The Villages.

You're right, Barefoot. It is a bit of a drive, but when looking for Christmas dinner, the options were a bit limited. Also, we really enjoy getting out into the surrounding areas. Not a school night kind of place, for sure, but pleasant for a little change of pace.

I wish we had more non-franchise type restaurants within golf cart range. Most of the ones we have are great for breakfast or lunch but not open for dinner, or at least not late enough for my taste. The country clubs aren't franchise, but the menus seem to be about the same as most chains.

Personally, I'm glad any "excuses" to eat out, and over-eat, are over for another year. My husband ate the last two pieces of Christmas candy tonight.....yea!!

We also went there for Christmas. It was fantastic could not believe they had lamb shank on the buffet for that price.

We like to go to Harbor Lights. We always go on the weekends cause I love crab legs. Food is always good and fresh.

They used to be on the buffet but the locals didn't want to spend the money for all the extras all the time so they lowered the price and made some of the things to order on the side.
