Default Review Helpful hints

I know The Villages is a totally diverse community, made up of people from various locations & backgrounds.

I would give more credence to restaurant review , if a poster would mention their age and what states they lived in

Kansan"s & Texans know steaks . NYC, Boston & NJ know Italian

Maine residents know lobster

This is not elitism-- its more of a guide to help us &others avoid dining mistakes

Ok Coney, comes Made in the “D”.
National is our choice. There is no where in TV that is even close.

The only way Texans know steaks is if they are eating Iowa beef.

I was raised in Ohio which is quite the place for food of every kind. Cincinnati used to own three of the five star restaurants out of 12 in this country. (Pigals, Maisonette and Gourmet Room.)

Many good and long lasting food chains began in Ohio. It also grew wonderful vegetables fruits and meats. The famous cookbook was written in Cincinnati that was the bible for cuisine for many years; The Joy of Cooking, by the Rombauers.

Chances are most reviews will be by people over 55... just saying.

I expect a review that says why someone liked something instead of just that "I liked it" would mean more to me.

For example, "Clean facility, fast service, friendly staff, and prepared exactly the way I asked it to be" means a whole lot more to me than "I'm from Texas and I know steaks and I liked it a lot".

I tend to NOT base my likes and dislikes on someone else opinion but their experience is useful to help me decide if I want to go someplace or try something.

Yup, like Wendy's! (j/k)

(PS, I actually prefer Wendy's if I have to have fast food)

I LOVE, love, love Wendy's Chili. It is always very hot and tasty and their Frosty's aren't bad either. I think a lot of food from some chains is very comforting.

A Coney is a hot dog with so much crappola on it you cant taste the flavorless meat. Like the old Wendys commecial...”wheres the beef?”

I suppose its named after Coney Island...fortunately, you cant get a coney there but you can dine at the mecca of all hot dogs..Nathans

Where I come from a coney is not a hot dog, it’s a coney ...sometimes referred to as a white hot. A taste of its own & very popular with Upstate New Yorkers

Every kind? How about Mexican or Tex-mex? If you're from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Colorado. Can't imagine Ohio

According to Samwise Gamgee nothing like a brace of Coneys to make a fine stew.

BTW, Coney refers to the Coney Island Hot Dog (obviously) but in Coney Island, Brooklyn, they are NOT referred to by that name. They are called "Franks" (short for Frankfurters). Ask any New Yorker. In upstate NY, however, they never heard of a "Frank", they call 'em "Hots".

Nathan's secret was "Natural Casing" and Garlic added to the 100% Beef.

Grew up on Long Island with Nathan's and married a guy from Syracuse and was introduced to Coneys pronounced Cooneys. Got them at a place in Liverpool. We would go there when visiting his family. Loved them. The pool bar at Lopez had them a few years ago.
