Not a fan of Sub Sandwiches (not on my cardiologist’s list of food recommendations) but occasionally will share a footlong with my wife. That said, my experience with Subway goes from very good to mediocre. Not all Subway stores are alike in quality. Much depends on the ownership, mangers and trained employees. The same can be said regarding other “branded” Sub Stores too. Good luck in your search.

Firehouse are cheaper than Jersey Mike's because they have a lot of bread and fillers and way less meat. Even Subway is better than Firehouse.

I don't know how someone in New England, with SO many great independent sub shops could have preferred Subway. When I lived in the Boston area I would not have touched a Subway sandwich. DeAngelo's was better but even they could never compare to the mom and pop joints.🤮

I was told from a Subway employee that all their meats are turkey-based. Don't know if that makes a difference to anyone, but I actually like their sandwiches with the variety of toppings and dressings that they offer.

Kind of like when people say that pizza from Aldi is better than freshly made in a pizza shop.

I grew up in Boston. Back in the day, I would think Subway would have tanked in Boston.
How about one six-inch. sub for 25 cents??? For me, I rank Publix number one and close would be Wawa.

Not true.Only the cold cut combo is made from turkey meat. For those who want a low cost option and one that also does not contain pork.

Obviously, you were not at Subway. No way is anything you posted true.

Subway was a staple, because it is native to Connecticut. That doesn't mean it's a favorite or that I prefer it. It was just a common thing - the fast food of subs, much like a Fishwich at McDonald's is the choice for fast food fish sandwiches when you don't want the full treatment of a proper fresh breaded cod on toast with a side of crinkle fries and slaw at the seafood joint up the street.

There was no D'Angelo's anywhere near where I lived when I was growing up. We had the local pizzerias for our meatball subs, and mom for cold cut sandwiches. And the occasional Subway. That was the extent of my sub experience until college. At that point, we had local sandwich shops, and we had Subway. Subway had a sub club card, and they were fairly inexpensive. So that's what we ate.

Fast forward to after I graduated college and was still living in Brighton MA, and we had a local pizza/sub joint where I would get my subs. Genoa, mortadella, hot capicola, and prosciutto, on a fresh-made italian loaf, with the provolone on the top and tossed in the pizza oven long enough to melt the cheese. Then top it with lettuce, tomato, hot pepper relish, anchovies, and a drizzle of olive oil and a shake of oregano. You won't find THAT anywhere else, ever. So since I can't have perfection, and since I have to settle no matter what I do, I might as well go for consistent mediocrity. Subway is what it is.

Down here in the Villages, there's no D'Angelos. That'd be my first choice for a steak and cheese. Publix is my first choice down here for italian cold cut. But Subway is a good option for "we want fast food but don't want McDonald's." Usually get the tuna.

Just go get a sub at Publix and enjoy. You can thank me later.

I lived in CT for 44 years. Subway is trash.
