Smile Taco Bell & McDonald's breakfast war, or boxing match?

There's a war going on between McDonald's and Taco Bell. As far as I'm concerned, they might as well be throwing "breakfast bombs", bombs that might leave craters in your health regimen, assuming you have a health regimen.

"Egg McMuffin, meet the Waffle Taco." (AP- Feb. 26, 2014) It seems the Associated Press sees it as a boxing match. I can just imagine it: In this corner we have the greasy, fatty, starchy, high sodium, low fiber, world's heavyweight champion. And, in the opposite corner, we have an equally dangerous, high starch, high sodium, low fiber, fatty opponent.

So far, McDonald's has been #1 in the morning and Taco Bell intends to be a strong #2. So you can see that between the two of them they will have all the essential functions covered. Where would we be without #1 and #2 in the morning? And one thing about #2 is this: When you're #2 you have to try harder.

Taco Bell will enter into the breakfast arena an March 27th., so mark your calendar all you fast food lovers. I can hardly wait (not).

I love McDonald's breakfasts. I keep hearing that they might expand they're breakfast hours, wish they would hurry up. I don't get up until 12 or 1pm so I can rarely eat there--only if I can't get to sleep & go at 6am.

This war has been raging since the early 1980's when McDonalds introduced the first biscuit program for breakfast to maximize the return on the restaurant's capital investment by increasing revenues. Since then everybody has jumped into the breakfast game.

Yes, and you have to wonder if there will be enough customers to keep them all busy.

Everyone has their favorite fast food place. Mine is McDonalds. So I would say that there will be enough customers to keep them all in business.

That's pretty mild for a food war. Here's the real deal.

Yep. I took that photo a couple of years ago while I was spending some time in the Live Oak area.
