Those are things one doesn't speak of.

I thought The Precinct was pretty good. Is it still open? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

There doesn't appear to be a market in The Villages for fine dining establishments. It's fun to go to them when traveling. Used to think just New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and a few others. Never thought of Cincinnati or North Carolina. Glad to know.

Highlands, NC is an area I know well. Lived in NC for 24 years. There are many fine restaurants there and in many of the mountainous areas. The homes and people that frequent these areas warrant the prices with the excellent food. Here in TV, we go out for a bite. Do we want to spend $35. Per dinner? Not at all. For a special meal, no problem.
Really, at the end of the day, I cook great quality food, and that's that. |

Home The Precinct Cincinnati Children's Hospital dropped to third best overall Children's Hospital in the U.S. Behind Philadelphia and Boston Children's. It had been second for many years. It still is number one in several areas.

Lots of corporate giving over many decades . A long history of high paying jobs also allows much generosity on the part of the local and suburban population . Not from there but had much experience in my career doing business in the region and even owned a business in Blue Ash for a few years . Great area ! |

Glad to see The Precinct get the rating it deserves. It also seems to me that we ate at another restaurant called Jeff Ruby that I thought was really good as well. And while I'm on the topic of Cincinnati, I might add that the Univ. Of Cincinnati & the Mayfield Clinic are home to some of the best neurosurgeons in the world. When Dr. John Tew (retired chairman) was at Mass General he developed a radical treatment for treating certain TMJ conditions caused by MS. By the way, the Hyde Park Gourmet Food and Wine, owned by a radiologist friend, is a wonderful place to acquire great wines and cheese for pairings. Cincinnati is such a sophisticated place. I've never lived in Cincinnati, but my wife has received world class medical care there, and we've enjoyed many nice meals there. Thanks for being from Cincinnati GG! P.S. My wife trained at MGH so we know Excellent medical care. And understand why Boston Childrens is always ranked highly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

And we're off......with the regionalism that runs rampant around here sometimes. "Why-oh, who-oh, why-oh," says me from Ohio, "do some Villagers insist upon painting people with a wide brush, basing their opinions only on geography?" (Geez. It gets annoying.) There are all kinds of people everywhere. I know a few New Yorkers and I like the ones I know. I know lots of people in Ohio that I like, but I also know people in Ohio who are not wonderful. Regionalism is beyond silly. It is ridiculous. And now, with a nod to my German Cincinnati roots, I hope you Villages regionalists will repeat after me....... "Ich bin ein Villager." ....uh oh, I hope I did not just say that I am a jelly donut. Boomer Last edited by Boomer; 06-20-2017 at 11:25 PM. |

Hey, thanks, db. I bet that other Ruby restaurant could have been Carlo and Johnny. And don't forget our zoo. People all over the world are following the videos of the progress of Fiona, the baby hippo born prematurely on January 24. She was just 29 pounds which is about 25 pounds lighter than the lowest hippo birth recorded previously. Fiona has made wonderful progress under the care of our dedicated zookeepers. Fiona's proud parents are Henry and Bibi. It was love at first sight for them, even though Henry is quite a bit older -- actually he is twice her age. BUT the news reported that when they met, age did not matter. In fact, it was said that when their eyes met across the hall, Bibi stared, open mouthed, her tongue hanging out. They have a new 7.5 million dollar home. (Oh my! I wonder if Henry insisted on a pre-nup.) If you could use a smile, Google Fiona, Cincinnati Zoo, and look up Henry and Bibi, too. ........Wow. Has this thread derailed or what. I helped. Last edited by Boomer; 06-20-2017 at 06:05 PM. |

![]() Some folks just love to try and make proclamations, that ALL folks from one area are great...and vice versa. ![]() It just gets old, so a little nose tweaking...seemed to be in order. ![]() In actuality, while I found downtown Cincinnati fairly bland in its architecture...I did like the little square area when a group set up for a free concert at lunch. ![]() |
