Excellent choice. When looking for a good place to go for a special occasion, I found Bern’s on a list of the 10 best steakhouses in the country. You order steak by cut and thickness. Most of their staff has worked there for decades.

Ask for a tour of their gigantic wine cellar, which holds just a tiny fraction of their total collection. And, don’t forget to take advantage of the second floor dessert section after the meal. It’s a bunch of very private glass rooms that vary in size from something appropriate for two to large parties. It’s easy to get lost in that glass maze! Leave a trail of breadcrumbs if you need to use the facilities.

I'll second your first statement. We've been here from Orlando for 17 ys. now, and other than the incompetent drivers, our No. 1 dissatisfaction is the poor food/restaurant situation. T.V. and the surrounding area's total population is certainly large enough to have attracted better than we have.

Oscar Penn’s in Inverness is by far the best. Food is always cooked as ordered and very flavorful. Jason (owner)only uses the finest cuts of meat and seafood.
Service is impeccable . You will not be disappointed with anything on his menu.

Well, I think Texas Roadhouse does a great job with their fillets at an affordable price.
More expensive would be The Chop House in TV. There is a Mark's Prime in Ocala.

I have had great filets at Stonewood Grill and the best filet at Austin's Cattle Company in Valdosta, GA. No, we did not drive there for the filet. We stopped on our way north and had wonderful filets every time.

So, are there any excellent restaurants, that serve great filets in the surrounding area from Ocala to Mt. Dora?

Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa is considered a T10 in all of the US.

The Japanese Waygu strip at $25 an OUNCE is worth every penny.
