Angry Delivery problems for The Villages Daily Sun

I want to register a complaint about the recent deliveries of The Daily Sun in my neighborhood in Newell. Over the past few rainy days none of the papers have been double bagged and are often soaked and unusable. I phoned the publisher this morning to complain and was told they had no way to redeliver my paper, and while they did credit me for the day, I consider this the same as no delivery at all. I was told that they had recently changed delivery agents here in March, which is about when I started getting half my papers delivered into the yard where they are often soaked by the sprinkler system. I was also told that on rainy days they are required to double bagged the papers, but this has not happened in recent weeks. I went to the Daily Sun website to register a complaint and discovered that they have a list of complaints that can be submitted, but I found no way to report this one. So I am describing the problem here in the hope that The Daily Sun will take some corrective action regarding their new delivery lady in the Newell area.

I often run out and try to grab the paper soon after they deliver it . Have to get up to pee anyway but do have to put on some pants .

Registering a complaint here won't return you any better results than you're getting with the paper. Call the paper back on Monday and ask to speak to the Distribution Supervisor/Manager.

Complaining to everyone will not help! Waste of not only yours but everyone else's time that reads this!

If your desperate for a dry paper the postal stations have a Daily Sun in the paper stations (like the ones back before most went to the the computer to read it) with leftovers? Don’t they offer the online version for free with the paper so someday you could forget about a paper version? There are options? Welcome to the Villages?

OP’S first post I see! Though changes may not be made by posting here there is no need to get “snarky” to their post. OP, I had the same problem when my old carrier finally retired for good. It took two or three calls to the right person but problem has gone away. It’s difficult to get good help these days. Hang in there and keep calling the supervisor of distribution at The Daily Sun.

Possibly, it would be nice if this were the biggest issue in one's life. There are always more good things happening in one's life if you relearn how to look a little more positively every day, I do. If my paper was wet from sprinklers or rain, I turn my oven to 200 and let it bake till dry.

Sure have had this happen to me before. To rectify the sprinkler issue, I reset my irrigation clock to 1:00 a.m. As for the rain getting my paper wet, whether from one or two bags, I turn the oven on to 200 degrees and spread it out on the racks, letting it slow-bake until dry. Problem solved.

You cannot change what has already happened. I personally have had The Daily Sun delivered since 2007 and have had very few problems.

From your statement above, it would appear that you just called today. Give them a chance to correct the problem. If you have called before and see no change, escalate your call to a manager at The Daily Sun.

Good Luck.

You have to call the daily sun. This forum can’t fix your problem.

Sad that people feel the need to take the time to reply with a snarky comment to someone who makes their first post here on SOH.

Try to be kind, OP’s first post, doesn’t realize one can’t come to vent without criticism. For Many of the new and elderly, the paper is their only social event info. Possibly the only daily exercise to walk out bend over, retrieve, walk back.

OP sorry to inform you for 15 years if your paper was wet, a dry Daily Sun was brought to your door. That service is gone.

However in any of our neighborhoods, some who walk their dogs or run at 3am also perform a selfless act. Picking up the newspaper of those who have a difficult time, or it just pouring rain and toss it to the front door.

Maybe one of your neighbors will do the same. Or like many install cameras, ours pings on my phone when the paper arrives. It’s usually 3:20am, unless it’s the resident bear, coyote, bobcat, and one very smart squirrel who likes to activate the cameras blue light.

Welcome to TOTV site, the rainy season is upon us, set your alarm, and if you are able toss your neighbors paper on their doorstep

Default Paper

Thank you for posting about the paper. This has happened to us twice in the last week and not because of sprinklers. Now I know where to go to file a complaint..distribution center. All the posts of smirky comments should take your time and spend it elsewhere.
