Picked up something heavy and strained my left arm, wow! I don't think I've ever been in more pain!
Am on Prednisone 20 MG twice a day. If you ever had an arm muscle strain, how long did it take you to get better? thank you! |

I've had strains, pulls, small tears, all my life. . i should stretch more often Ibuprofen + ice for 20 minutes 2-4 times a day for three days. . I use frozen lima bean bags, because I hate lima beans. . heat 3-4 times a day for 20 minutes for the following 3-4 days. . total recovery time 4-6 weeks for minor, 6-8 weeks for larger, depending upon location and severity. If this is your first then gauging by your pain level, unable to tell the severity Last edited by CoachKandSportsguy; 08-06-2025 at 01:20 PM. |

Believe it or not but horse lineament (Sparr) works great, and it is less expensive than similar items at the drug store.

without a doubt this is the best answer you can receive. I hurt my arm similarly decades ago. I did not seek medical help and i feel it's effects today.

It would require testing first probably an MRI. Hopefully yours heals and you won’t have to. Last edited by Ageiler; Yesterday at 06:37 AM. Reason: Mispell |

I agree. If you’re having that much pain, you should have a specialist check it out. Why would you seek out medical advice here? And even internists aren’t great with musculoskeletal injuries.

If it’s tendon damage and you wait too long they can not repair the damage. It well not fix itself over time.
Also if it is muscle heat is needed to bring more blood to the muscle. If it’s nerve damage use cold because using heat will bring more blood to the area and that can cause more nerve damage because of the pressure from the extra blood. |

I've been involved with serious competitive athletics for 40 years and at my age now (64) I've noticed I get injured more regularly now and I would describe those injuries as muscle "strains" or ligament / tendon strains. Over the years it's happened probably 5 times and I've tried various methods dealing with them. The first few times I would see a doctor but it's not a critical injury and it's very difficult to diagnose so all they give you are stretching / PT prescriptions. They had me working with rubber bands with various motions but nothing ever worked. I believe that complete rest is what heals that type of injury. What I found works best is to wear a immobilization brace where my arm is Velcro-ed to my waist area and I try to wear it most of the day. It eliminates the micro movements that you don't even realize your doing that seem to extend the life of the injury. I'm not a doctor so please take my advice accordingly. Good luck!
