I’m sad to report that conditions at Mira Mesa have deteriorated greatly over the past few months . Not long ago the conditions were pristine.
The greens for the most part were in bad condition. Adding to the bad conditions is the fact that many people don’t know how to walk on the greens . Lots of “drag” marks all over specially near the holes. Tee boxes in not much better condition and the areas from tee to green had a lot of bare spots . Sadly , lots of bare spare around the greens too ! 😏 The course is playable but gets a C rating at best . |

Apparently the complete refurbishment done on the an Executives, with the latest and greatest new hybrid greens, isn’t working. Mira Mesa, Chula Vista, and Silver Lake have all been completely refurbished in the last few years and all the greens are in horrendous conditions. I never expect the greens on the Executives to be the same as the Championship courses (different maintenance budgets), but I do expect the greens to roll decent enough so chipping and putting on them won’t ruin your short game when you play a Championship course. Since the refurbished Executive greens use the same preferred hybrid grass as the Championship courses (and maintenance companies), there is no reason the greens shouldn’t consistently roll somewhat close to the Champs. I suppose it matters less for folks that play exclusively Executive courses, since that’s what they’re used too, but it sucks for folks that like to play both types of courses. It takes several holes to adapt to the greens at Tierra Del Sol, after playing Chula Vista. A put that would only make it halfway to the hole at Chula Vista would roll past the hole and off the green at TDS, if it didn’t hit the cup. That’s just not right.

There are a lot of executives that are in great shape including the greens . Most executives below 44 are in great shape , Lowlands being one of the best! And what some say that the bad conditions are caused by excessive play is only partially true . Lowlands is the most often played executive in The Villages and I would rate that course an A + ! |

Good pics. Clearly MM is not worn from play. I've been on it several times last couple of months due to friends renting up near there. I would like to see total monthly numbers for each course in TV. I know people flock to the newer courses, so I'm sure a lot of numbers have to do with location. Maybe the person in charge of MM and Chula grounds needs to go shadow some other course mangers.
You can't easily play MM or Chula if you live south of 466A. Once you get above 466, your fighting cars and landscape trailers for space on Morse. If you live below 466, even going below 44 is a breeze on a cart. Long, but safe relaxing drive. I would rather go south to play golf from Sumter any day rather than go north on a golf cart. In a nutshell, they (TV Execs) really don't care. They are just redoing things in Spanish and Orange Blossom to meet their contractual responsibilities. |

I play the courses mentioned here quite often and agree that the greens are horrible, but what gets me is when they do some maintenance (and that is quite often) they come back rolling the same or worse.

I agree with everyone’s comments above .
The best thing about living here in TV is that we have choices which are NOT available anywhere else in the US (and maybe anyplace else! ) With 40 + executives and 14 championship courses available, I’m sure it’s easy to find something that will satisfy anyone’s addiction ! LOL ! |

Can you explain how they are horrible? Are they Slow? Fast? Ugly? Bumpy? Shaggy? Horrible greens could mean so many different things.

Everything on that list except for fast. Unless one wants to say, I can’t believe how FAST Newley renovated greens have gone bad.

TDS has Tif Eagle greens, fast pretty much year round. Chula has Tif Grand greens, slow in the Summer puffy and harder to mow. The HOC will be higher to prevent scalping and reel chatter, need to verticut, top dress, roll greens more. In the Winter lower maintenance, holds its color better and can lower the HOC. |
