One clip on Instagram, which has been viewed over 21.5 million times, shows a man ordering "a large Mountain Dew" and the AI voice continually replying "and what will you drink with that?"

AI
Artificial Ignoramus Called a specialty doc's office to cancel and reschedule. Could not get a real person on the phone. AI gave me no choice of reschedule date and time. Took probably 20 minutes of rephrasing, repeating, ad nauseum. Voting with my feet: I plan to take my business elsewhere. (not the only lousy thing there). I need to change my login to "Doomer Boomer", no offense to the always well typed original "Boomer"
AI will be the "Animal Farm" of information. . . AGI, Artificial Generalized Intelligence, trains on general information, which comes from humans on places like FaceSpace, Birdspeak, etc, and since its generalized, it will keep getting dumber and dumber as the young and ignorant try to learn from it. . Experts will no longer add to it, as experts will get lost in inter human negative competition, aka mud slinging, and experts will add to expert knowledge trained AGI, which will become the for pay version of AGI, aka AEI, or ASI. Unguarded, somewhere it will be the downfall for governments, and the increase in violence as labor markets crumble to commodity status, serfdom, and localized people revolt |

The worries of AI taking over the workforce are exaggerated,
People would rather talk to a real person than deal with an unsympathetic AI. Look at how many people will stand in line at a grocery checkout rather than use self-checkout. |

AI is impressive at times, but, as an example, if I want to buy "Blue Floral Polo Shirt for Men" on any website, you will mostly get anything but Blue, Polo Shirt, Floral and for Men.
A 2 years-old knows what is "Blue" and "Shirt" and "Men". A 4 years old knows what is "Polo Shirt". But Amazon, Walmart, eBay, etc have no clue!!! Most of the results are not blue, polo shirts, for men or floral. At least with Amazon, they own a major AI initiative. Put it for simple good use!!! |

Called Walgreens a couple days back to order refills. Got to the "pharmacy" and a nice woman answered. Sweet voice, and so totally natural. Asked me if that was a "T" or "P" in my name. Better than talking to a human. Really. No accent or slurred speech etc. When picking up the RX, I asked the clerk if she knew about the AI voice. No idea but she was gonna call to check it out.
Way the world is going. I'm ++++ about it, as in this case it frees up the pharmacy to do their job rather than answering yada calls. Of course the "bad" AI stuff is very worrisome. But there is good and bad in virtually ANYTHING in life. |

in 1962, the Beatles auditioned for Decca Records. The label's head of A&R, Dick Rowe, rejected them with the rationale that "guitar groups are on the way out" and "The Beatles have no future in show business" In 1997, Digital Equipment Co. was the 2nd largest computer company in the world. The founder Ken Olsen, at the World Future Society, said " "There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home". If ToTV had a wider audience, this thread might someday be quoted with the same reverence.

Yep, it’s not an unreasonable question. For example, in western NC, Mountain Dew was (still is) the top choice mixer with either moonshine or corn/grain alcohol. ‘Been there, done that with elder relatives and friends.
