The restaurant had more citations and closed for good.
And the golf course is in financial mess.

Pretty dramatic situation, if true. Reviews on GolfNow have been generally favorable, although they do mention that Stonecrest is "temporarily closed". This website seems intent on doing a hatchet job on the new owners, whether true or not. My private course up north was bought by this equity group a year ago, and everything seems fine so far. They have invested in improvements and the course is in good shape, although they have the benefit of a full renovation when they purchased it. No employees are leaving. Don't know what's really going on at Stonecrest, but it would be a shame to see a nice layout, reasonably priced and local, go downhill.

Agree, even if you don’t play there, less supply relative to demand is never a good thing for the golfing community.

This problem is not good for real estate in Stonecrest especially if you are trying to sell.

I wonder if the Villages country clubs will have more golfers from Stonecrest now. They're open to the public, you just have to pay a premium for the privilege.

We have friends who are golfers living in Stonecrest. The residents priority is to get the golf course back on track asap. The course was in great shape but it will quickly go “south” without maintenance. The current situation is a real challenge.

I doubt it …. “pay a premium” is an understatement ! The fees for a non-resident are enough to choke a horse !! 😱 Probably double of what they were (or are) paying on their home course.

Unfortunately, the residents can't do anything. The course and restaurant are the private properties of two conflicting ownership groups. Although unlikely, the same thing could take place at any championship course here in The Villages.

But fees half the price of most public courses on either coast of Florida.

Well , All these Stonecrester's that bragged about cheaper house prices and enjoying all the amenity's at THE VILLAGES for free can now bite the bullet with no golf, no restaurant , and home sales in the tank.

Is it true then, that 'The Villages' has no legal obligation to provide us with any 'amenities' at all?
So Property-Owners/Residents) are 'contracted' to pay, but 'The Villages' don't have to provide us free access to anything?
Can't be true.
Can it?

Championship golf , which is the topic, is not an “amenity”.

And for that matter, neither are the executives, although part of our amenity fee goes toward their maintenance….

Hmmm, I was under the impression that the Executives were an amenity, just like the recreation centers and pools? I suppose there is no guarantee that any amenity will continue to be maintained and operated once the new home construction stops? Where did you learn that the Executives are not an amenity?

The Executives are not owned by The Villages so technically, how can they be offered as an “amenity” by them ?

The executives are owned by the CDDs ( Districts) …. ie, you and I .

However, some of our amenity fee goes towards their maintenance….
