Default Cashed check for $1.83 today...

... probably cost more for the gas to get to the bank. I did grocery shopping though and it was raining pretty hard. I had to wait for breaks in the rain but still had seen some golfers trying to get in that last hole while getting rather wet doing so.

Life can sure be ironic at times.

Anything ironic today here in the Villages?

The check was for an overpayment in a medical bill by us. I suppose I am glad they are keeping such careful books.

We are legally required to do so, and to return any overpayment no matter how small

You can't deposit the check using your phone?

$1.83 is quite small. I was kind of surprised to get it. It was for home health care aid. It really comes in handy and I got to meet some very fine ladies. Quite a number of them in fact. And pretty much from all over this area.

One was pregnant and still came to take care of my Mom until almost before she was due to give birth.

I once received a reimbursement check from Care First BC/BS for $0.01.

I refused to cash it and had it framed in my office for years.

That's a great use for it.

I received a check from the Villages Development Corporation last year for $0.01 as an overpayment on my home which cost roughly $850,000. I have it taped to my wall.

Just for the safe-deposit box. That name always struck me as odd: Aren't all deposits to a bank supposed to be safe?

Back in the sixties, I used to get electronic parts from Allied Radio, and there would often be a small overpayment for USPS shipping. I would get refund checks for 10 or 20 cents. A friend would use them for tips for his barber.
