Default Dr. Van De Leur

Apparently he needs more patients. He has been arrested for stealing wine from costco.

He replaced my hip 3 years ago. it wouldn’t heal. Kept saying exercise, exercise. It was broken! Had to have 4 hr replace and repair surgery at Shands.

I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy!

It had to have been red wine and not white. We all know this because he was caught “red handed.”

Dam, the Medicare reimbursement rate for joint replacements must be squeezing him?

I wonder...would this "story" be less newsworthy if the person accused of the theft had been, say, a checker at Wal-Mart?

If the answer is yes, then all this particular story is, is sensationalizing.

He butchered a friend of mine. Put the wrong size piece in her knee replacement. Took her 2 years and 3 surgeries to get it right.

Given that wal-mart employees have been featured before in the crime pages, your assumption would be wrong.

Nice guy, for $250 he just lost a lot of respect from his peers and patients. Was it worth it ?

As "the crime pages" is somewhat nebulous, I did some clicking around. The only reference to this alleged shoplifting by this doctor was a story in The Online Paper That Shall Not Be Named.

But then again, they make their living out of printing this kind of clickbait sleaze. I had thought (hoped?) that TOTV was a bit above that type of shenanigan.

I can't understand why the Orthopedic Institute hasn't gotten rid of him by now. His patient reviews were pretty poor. Dr Van De Leur is the doctor who took over for Dr James Duke, one of the best surgeons who ever lived.

Dr Duke replaced my right knee around eight years ago. Thankfully I still have my own left knee and won't need Dr Van De Leur services.

I personally have no experience with Dr Van De Leur. But a few months ago, I was doing physical therapy at the Orthopedic Institute's local rehabilitation center for something else, not knee. Next to me was a patient of Dr Van De Leur who replaced his knee around five months ago. He said that whenever he tries to swing a golf club, his knee swells up and becomes painful. I realize that five months isn't a lot of time for this sort of thing. I personally was able to golf after three months of my operation, albeit on pain killers. Maybe someone here has more experience with golfing after a knee replacement. How long did it take?

It took an order from my PCP for an MRI to prove to Dr. Van de Leur that my hip was broken after he replaced it. Maybe the golfer should go to his Primary Care and ask for an MRI.

Default Interesting question!!!!!

Just today, a doctor told my wife that after 3 months she could be golfing again.

I told her, no way at all.

Doctors evidently don't understand the golf swing. The second most important item in the golf swing is a proper pelvic tilt. This prevents topping the ball and allows for a better weight shift.

BUT, this involves your stomach and glute muscles with a lot of pressure on your hips and knees. A lot of pressure.

I think anything under 6 months is a cause for pain. I would suggest practicing only chipping and putting and non strenuous activity recommended like walking. after 6 months go back to the doctor for an update.

If you're in pain golfing, stop. As the doctor says, if it hurts don't do that!

I would not suggest skydiving or weight lifting either. Heal first, enjoy those things for longer later or else those double bogies will hurt even more.

For mental golf health during recovery, become a driver for someone who is playing golf. You will enjoy the golf course surround and fresh air and you can't buy that kind of entertainment today. Enjoy the recovery but don't interrupt its progress.

Love this post, great advise.

Play best ball with you're buddies and only chip & putt.

Make golf fun again ;-)
