Default Small freezer start relay

Ok, if you have newer freezer or refrigerator that has cheap start relays it might be wise to have couple on hand. (Hidden in plastic cover on side of compressor) I checked Lowe’s and ace (not stocked and couple days to get them), even Amazon takes next day. My small chest freezer stops cooling, overheating, and continuing compressor running. So with 300 buck or more food in the freezer and no room in refrigerator freezer. I was out luck on quick repair. So, rented truck got another cheap freezer and transfered food Saving food loss. I was going to junk the maybe 4 year old freezer which looked like new call for pickup. But I had 4 or 5 days before that was going to happen.

So. I ordered start relays kit on Amazon for 4 or 5 bucks and thermostat just in case relays didn’t fix it. Amazon order came next day which amazed me being no normal box store could get it or stocked it. Took about 45 mins to swap out start relays parts and freezer working good and that was week ago. In my case took one connector relay. Some have 2 or 3 connections for wire connections?

Now I got two 5.0 cu ft freezers….

I am I posting this for ones that has general knowledge and skill to replace the 6 dollar parts in 40 minutes which may save food or appliances replacement.

The start relay parts has Hugh price range from 4 bucks to 80 plus. All look same like Chinese parts. So shop around.

Most failure are the compressor won’t start, but mine stop cooling and wouldn’t shut off. Pretty quick and cheap fix if the compressor hasn’t failed which can also fail on these cheap small freezers. When you take the vent panel off (and I know we do this to clean out and dust, dog/cat hair which can cause overheating ) you see how easy the cover on side of compressor easy to access.

It's a real drag when the body starts to thaw.

Ok, been over month since the fix on freezer, working good. I have wireless sensors so if it stops cooling out of limits it gives off warning. One in freezer and other in refrigerator.
