Default ACA prices to jump next year

Health insurance keeps going up.

ACA premiums will jump by 13 percent next year, though much of the price increase will be offset by subsidies.

Premiums for employer plans, could go up by about 10 percent in 2027.

As for Medicare, the standard Part B premium is projected to increase to $209.50/month in 2027 (up $6.60 from $202.90 in 2026) and the annual deductible is supposed to go up to $292 - a $9 increase.

In a few years I think a lot of people will be paying IRMAA.

Another classic problem with government’s intervention in capitalism. We all end up paying more.

The Government has no money, but they can borrow as much as they want.

Advantage plan was still no extra charge, just the basic part B premium out of the social security check. However, UH was giving me a $45 monthly "give back" this year, and in 2027 that goes down to $15.

So I switched to CarePlus, which is owned by Humana. Their give-back is $170/month. No deductible for medical expenses, and the prescription deductible won't apply to me because my prescriptions cost $0 anyway. The out of pocket cost is higher, but by less than $1000 for the year, and I didn't hit the out of pocket max on UH so again - that won't apply to me anyway.

I get to keep most of the same doctors. My ortho surgeon isn't in network, but he was my second choice, because my first choice wasn't on the UH network. Now I can go to my first choice, which is in the Humana network.

You need a better tax planner if Irma is a problem. Know. Don’t speculate.

Right up until the point where they can’t find anyone to by their debt without paying a huge risk premium.
