Several previous threads on this topic have been closed.

Nearly half the voters in the county have already cast their vote.

People's minds have already been made - I don't know why money is still being spent on this.

I've been getting glossy half-page "postcards" almost every day, and sometimes more than one different card on the same day, urging me to vote yes on it. But unlike you, I didn't base my opinion on how much money is being spent on advertising. I based it on the wording of the amendment - and the words that should've been included, but weren't.

I voted 5 weeks ago by mail, so all the money being spent on cards in MY mailbox are just wasted.

The TV ads about voting no are filled with lies, misleading statements, and too many doom & gloom predictions.
The strangest is claiming it is a "tax increase?

What's with the postcards arriving claiming it will end 911 service? Somebody needs to be arrested for sending out that outright 100% lie. Freedom of speech allows sending that, but there are consequences for the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater.

Do the postcards say it "will" end 911 or it "could" end 911? No one knows what "will" happen but there are a lot of things that "could" happen.

If it passes there will be a tax shift. Some will see it as a tax decrease while those on the other end of the shift will see it as a tax increase. I suspect if it passes we will all see an increase in new taxes.

Fortunately, there are only four more days to wonder how the voting will go.

Thankfully, November 4 is not that far away...

Most people have their minds made up after a few days, constant ad's are only a waste of money.

I admire the UK system for Voting.

The PM declares an Election 30 days later ( + or - ) it's all over.

Other than that. It's a decent place to visit ( Sometimes ) .

If you're wondering why those Sheriffs are fighting so hard against it, maybe it's this:

Since 2022 their salaries jumped:
Bob Gualtieri (Pinellas): Jumped from $179,887 up to $274,015
Grady Judd (Polk): Jumped from $172,829 up to $269,704
Mike Chitwood (Volusia): Jumped from $169,100 up to $262,828
Billy Woods (Marion): Jumped from $162,777 up to $257,625
Michelle Cook (Clay): Jumped from $152,082 up to $242,461
Four of them now make a 1/4 million dollars or more, plus a free take-home vehicle, full benefits, and a taxpayer-funded pension

Kind of like the lie by some politicians in ads that they eliminated taxes on social security.

Their salaries aren't affected by increased homestead exemptions. Their salaries are paid through ad valorem taxes, which aren't subject to those exemptions at all.

Huh?

The increased exemptions apply to the assessed value of the home which is used to calculate the ad valorem tax.

If amendment 3 passes the amount of all non-school ad valorem taxes collected will decrease: county tax, water management tax, police tax, fire tax, all non-school ad valorem taxes.
