Default Leesburg’s Future Is on the Ballot! - November 1 Home Construction News

Leesburg’s future is on the ballot! In this November 1 edition of South Leesburg Home Construction News, I examine the impact of recent growth, annexations, and residential development approvals on the city’s roads, infrastructure, public services, and quality of life. With 10,236 homes and 4,216 acres approved for development or annexed during the tenure of the two incumbents seeking re-election, residents have important questions to consider about the direction of their city. This episode encourages voters to examine the voting records and positions of the candidates and consider whether infrastructure is keeping pace with development. We also review the October 12 Leesburg City Commission meeting, including amendments to Banning Ranch that would allow Del Webb to pursue an age-restricted community, reduce the total number of homes, and use 20-foot garage setbacks that raise questions about sidewalk safety. Watch for the latest information on development shaping Greater Leesburg and remember: responsible growth means balancing new homes with infrastructure and the needs of existing residents.

Responible growth as defined by existing residents and defined by local government will never match....different drivers for each. Eventually members of local government usually leave because they are tired of the uninformed who have no responsibility. The existing residnets have theirs so they don't want anyone else to get theirs so stifle growth. Existing residents also don't want their costs to go up yet do nothing to help keep them down, like run for office, participate in government meetings, open dialogue. Actually pretty much the same everyplace I have lived and still searching for a solution.

One should also pay attention to who their biggest donors are. It's very telling.
