Hello all!
We have guests visiting us soon and we'll be celebrating their anniversary. They're vegetarian so we're looking for a nice place that has some non-meat entrees. Any recommendations? Does not need to be in TV ... but close by would be nice. TIA! |

Our vegetarian/no dairy(severely lactose) granddaughter won’t eat at any restaurant in the bubble. No restaurant in TV can say yes to her 3 questions.
Do you prepare vegetarian dishes prior to cooking any protein? Do you have a separate cooking device for vegetarian dishes? Do you have specific pans, and utensils for vegetarian dishes? We have a cabinet/drawer that stores utensils, dishes, pans, so she bakes and cooks daily on a separate grill/oven, at our home. Container garden supplies veggies. Asian dishes are legendary. Leahi on Old Mill run might work for your guests. Have not tried it yet, but reviews have been positive. |

There is protein in vegetables so question #1, as written, makes no sense Vegetarian is fine, but those rules seem a bit over the top (#1). (#2 and #3 make sense, at least as much as becoming a vegetarian does.) |

Vegetarians eat dairy, therefore a restaurant that uses the same cooking utensils can cause severely lactose intolerant system to create havoc. Yes legumes are proteins, but far different from Face Protein. Didn’t have to wait for Medical School for that education. Second reason for questions in Restaurants ….. religious beliefs for Q&A, is very common, staff happy to accommodate so patrons have a safe experience. Staff who ask “does anyone have food allergies” is very common. I know……who should be allowed to follow certain upbringing, the need to keep their beliefs? Some will always find questions ridiculous, even if the questions doesn’t affect their lifestyle….. Last edited by thelegges; Yesterday at 07:37 AM. |

New version isn’t needed….Humans are maimed or killed everyday because of 4,000yo beliefs, but still continue no matter the possibility of harm. Most willing continue believe in public or private

I realize that some not many % wise have to, but honestly many, many fall for it along with this " Gluten Free " , nonsense. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Ribeye, Bologna, Ham, Salami, Meatballs, etc. Not to forget " Rye Bread Oh Yeah.

Those who.have multi generational rare Kidney Issues, loss of or born with one Kidney rarely eat animal protein. Ask anyone in Dialysis, nephrologist policy less than 10% animal protein, sometimes avoid all together. Animal protein eventually death sentence. I spent 30+ years with many in Dialysis, its a depressing multi weekly procedure with years waiting on transplant. each month one more chair empty. What you can't live without, others hope they can live longer without |

We don't eat meat and it's true that TV does not favor vegetarians. The ethnic restaurants always work. Bombay Bistro for Indian, Thai Ruby, many Japanese restaurants including 2 locations of Sakura, VKI Japanese Steak House in Lake Sumter Landing. The Italian restaurants work well also but you might have to ask the kitchen to remove some meat from a pasta dish. The Brownwood Hotel, Wolfgang Puck is not bad for vegetarians. Enjoy your guests.

First of all, doctors have been taught to put patients in stage 3,4, and 5 CRF on a 40 gram protein diet for at least 60 years. However, the investigational evidence for this has historically been suspect. It originated in the 60's with the observation that Tibetan monks on a rice only (extremely low protein) diet had lower rates of CRF. Of course, they often didn't live long enough for the data to be valid, and since they were all genetically Tibetan, the relevance to Americans was questionable. Recent studies can be summarized here: Low-protein diets have historically been used to slow CKD progression, but recent high-quality evidence shows that overly restrictive intake (<0.6 g/kg/day) may increase risks of kidney failure and mortality, while moderate restriction (~0.8 g/kg/day) is now favored in many guidelines Recent prospective cohort evidence: A 2026 cohort study of 1,861 non‑dialysis CKD patients found that the lowest daily protein intake (<0.6 g/kg/day) was associated with a 42% higher risk of kidney failure (subdistribution hazard ratio 1.42) and more than double the risk of all‑cause mortality (sHR 2.17) compared with the highest intake (>1.2 g/kg/day) The authors attributed this to protein‑energy wasting and sarcopenia, especially in populations with lower muscle mass. They concluded that excessive restriction may harm outcomes and that maintaining adequate nutrition is as important as reducing kidney workload And lastly: Animal protein eventually death sentence? Animal protein eventually death sentence??? Animal protein eventually death sentence???????? I must not be posting here, since all mankind should be extinct given our Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon ancestors chowing down on Mastodon and Wooly Mammoth meat. |
