Default Lady Lake commissioners advance gas station at CR 466 and Rolling Acres Road

After a mediated settlement, a scaled-back convenience store with fuel pumps passed first reading. The final vote is Nov. 16.

Gas station, bank, or pharmacy.... it seems every intersection needs at least three.

Great idea by the owner though. With all the traffic through that intersection, the new developments just south, the RV park across the street, and nearest gas station about 1/2 mile away there should be quite a few customers

Confirmation bias is real; I can find any number of articles that say so.

One of the things they considered a good thing, was that there'd be plenty of foot traffic from the soccer field, because it's going to be a convenience store. I think it's going to be a nightmare. It's already a very busy intersection without tons of foot traffic. Now add in all the people from Recreation Plantation crossing the street, and kids after their soccer practice crossing the intersection (it's catty-corner so they'd have to cross the entire intersection, not just one street).

I personally think this is a bad idea. I can't imagine a gas station/convenience store at this location. Accidents waiting to happen.

Yep. Quite a few customers and quite a few traffic issues

Yes, quite a few traffic issues. I wouldn't want it if I lived in that area. But it does make sense from a business owner perspective.
