Default Where there's smoke there's fire

We were at Spanish Springs yesterday around 5:30 and saw a large billow of smoke coming from the east. Does anyone know what was burning?

That was probably a golf cart exploding in the Historic area. Follow the link for a picture.

A 96-year-old Villager said shes lucky to be alive after her golf cart exploded and caught her house on fire.
Julia Tiedemann was returning from a trip to the postal station at about 5 p.m. Sunday when she pulled into her carport at her home on Aloha Way on the Historic Side of The Villages.
All of a sudden things started exploding, she said. I ran like hell.
Flames scorched the side of her home. All that remains of her golf cart is a burned-out carcass.
She is grateful to The Villages Public Safety Department for their prompt response.
They were here before I knew it, she said.
Yellow tape now marks off the area where the explosion took place. Julias car also got caught up in the fire and may be a total loss as well.
I am lucky to still be here, she said.

lapdog, whatever site you linked is blocked from this forum so can you spell out the name of the website with spaces in between the letters - or do something else creative - so I can tell what site you posted that from, please?

You can subscribe to the free newspaper and receive "breaking news" updates online, as well as a daily paper online. It's an excellent way to stay current with what is happening in The Villages. I received breaking news updates about the golf cart fire and about the break-in at Miona Shores.

However the online newspaper doesn't replace TOTV in any way. This website is the very best for chatty discussions about breaking news.

As the article states, the 96-year-old woman is lucky to be alive. Her house was burned, along with her car which may be a total loss, and of course the golf cart was destroyed. She was returning from the mail box, something she has probably done everyday for decades. What would make an electric cart explode?
