Yes, I know for a fact- that this was in the daylight. The female was attempting to go back to her car and had a purse on her shoulder. She was knocked to the ground when a black male young age- 20s grabbed her purse and never stopped. She suffered significant injuries- hip broken and head wound. EMS arrived and many people stopped to help this female- (I think about 80s). She was driving an older Toyota corolla and had no packages or fancy (real or fake) jewelry on.

Police are investigating. She was here from out of the country-visiting THE VILLAGES ...very sad.

That is absolutely terrible! I read about this and about the 'knock-out' attacks on elderly or young mothers, and I am aghast. Our society has a disease, from which I don't know if we can be cured. Shaking my head...don't know about you but I am all for some tough justice.

I don't like the fact that young punks from way off campus are getting caught taking our hard earned stuff.

If you see someone who doesn't look like they fit, call law enforcement immediately. If that is done enough than the b*****ds won't see us as a soft target.

Everyone nowadays has a cellphone, and they can all be used to take pictures (and usually a video). Know (or learn) how to use this cellphone feature - and USE it if you think you observe something 'irregular. If nothing else, the folks being photographed may be dissuaded if they were up to something bad. If the new film Star seems overly alarmed; they may have just failed the attitude test.

A couple of years ago I had a situation in my Villages neighborhood where I used the cellphone gambit. Two guys were carrying a television out of a garage, and as I passed, the guys/situation/truck seemed somewhat irregular. I backed up and took a picture of them and the back of their truck (showing the license plate). When asked what I was doing, I complimented them on the neat truck and told them I used to have one just like it ... I also casually mentioned that I really hoped they weren't stealing the television. This brought-on all sorts of defensive statements that the homeowner had given them the tv, and was inside the house. (I checked it out later, and it turned out to be a true story.)

TV is STILL a 'bubble, but probably not the Protective Bubble we'd all like it to be.

Enjoy The Villages, but keep those Situational Awareness skills intact.

Best,
Casey

You must have treated her.

Very sad indeed.

Hopefully the authorities put up a reward. One of their criminal buddies might turn the perp in!

Most parking lots have security cameras. I wonder if they got any photos of the person or the getaway vehicle?

With the amount of video available in public places such as that I'd be VERY surprised if they do not catch the person within the week. Especially with her being injured so severely. With the amount of tax dollars coming in from TV I can't imagine this and the burglaries isn't being taken very seriously. If I was sheriff (an elected official) I'd certainly be concerned.

Just such a shame all the way around. So sad.
