Not strictly investment talk, but actually close. I need to run a check on a prospective buyer, for a property we have an interest in and was wondering if anyone has ever used one of those on line sites that offer background checks. Can you recommend a good one, or are they scams?

I used to run background checks for the police department in Iowa. We ran three checks - two were public information in the state and the only confidential one was the local police records. So you might be able to do this yourself.

What type of information are you looking for? Criminal? Civil suits?
I'm a private investigator and I have non-public access databases but I'd need to know what specifically you are looking for.
