My dog wouldn't take her flea and tick pill, I tried many methods in trying to get her to do so. Only thing that worked very well was tapping the pill while still in its package with a hammer until it was a fine powder, then put into her bowl with some graded cheese, mixing until you can no longer see the transformed powdered pill.
It has to be tapped completely to powder form, she will spit out the smallest pieces if it isn't. Thought I would share this little tip because it can be very frustrating if your dog is like mine was.

Another thing you can try is to put the pill in peanut butter. We have done that successfully for the most part but occasionally our dog would spit the pill out.

My girl was to smart for that one, she spit it out every time. I'm sure I could put her powdered pill in peanut butter and it would work.

Pill Pockets work for us but only if you casually throw it to him like a treat!
