Default next friday I retire

So after 37 years as a nurse next Friday will be my last day .I have been working since I was 17 and never thought this day would come.I have to say The feeling are a little different then then Expected .I am happy because this means We will soon be in TV full time .I am sad because I love my job with the US navy and the sailor I serve.Know It is time for me to live my life and do the things Ialways wanted with my husband and not have a time table to keep.
I think a am a little scared as well the unknown is that way and in our society we do define people by their profession so it is like loosing ones identity but I have plans to forge a new one in TV
Any comment on your experience with you retirement day would
Be welcomed

Congratulations! It's been almost 1 year since I retired but I must say it's not what I expected. After working for so long, it's been hard to adjust to not having a schedule. And I don't seem to be doing all the things I always thought I would. I am slowly downsizing, but not at the pace I had hoped.
I am sure things would be different if we were in TV full time. But getting from here to there is taking longer than I want it to.
Everyone has told me it takes a while to adjust. You are retiring, and moving, both major life changes. So give yourself and hubby some slack if things aren't always so smooth. Try to enjoy the ride and keep looking forward. It will all work out!

I'm still getting used to "allowing" myself to enjoy retirement. Like you, I had worked since I was 17. It is a little weird at first, but then you come to enjoy not having to go to work.

I don't have any advise for you as I'm not there yet. But I did want to offer my congratulations!!! And I hope your transition is smooth, happy, and all you ever hoped it could be.
