Question Mail box keys

We received just one key to our mail box when we closed, at a cost of $125.00 [not absolutely sure] Would really like another one but not at that price, how do I go about getting another one as it states on key that it cannot be reproduced?

You have to go to the main post office. If I recall correctly they were $25 a couple years ago.

Cool mail box keys

Was this a new house? Because when we closed, we were given 3 keys(this was a new house)!

It makes me laugh to think we get charged for extra post office keys. Can you imagine how much money the post office saves by not having to hire people to deliver your mail to your house? This is the first place I've lived where I have drive a half mile to pick up and deliver my own mail.

Then I am guessing that the seller either lost one, or has kept possession of the 2nd key. Perhaps ask the agent to get it for you, or pay to have the lock rekeyed.

Cool

If you can't get the other key, you will have to go to the post office and they will replace the lock on your box and give you 3 keys. I went through this process about 3 years ago and it was about $30 to get a new lock and keys.

When we moved into our "pre-owned" home 3 years ago, they also lost our maibox keys and we had to go to the post office for new ones. We were directed to the post office on Legrande Blvd off Griffin Ave. (behind the Ed Ranchito restaurant) since that is the post office responsible for The Villages. They gaves us new keys but said they had to send out a person to change the lock on our box to match the new keys, and it took about 3 days before we could access our mailbox.

If you go to the main post office you will get a new lock on your box and 2 keys, not a new key for the existing lock. It takes a couple of days and the cost is about $25. They do it that way in case your missing key is in the wrong hands.

I just had it done and it was $75 for 3 keys and new lock. They give you 2 and leave one in the box.
