Default sweetbay - publix

Someone in the know told me that the sweetbay stores will not be renamed winn dixie. Probably because winn dixie has had some financial problems and people always like to try a new brand. Either way i don't beleive it will make a difference to the publix in colony. Everyday sales are running $175,00 which 2 years ago were record sales for a day. Sat. they had a super bowl promo and did over $200,000. Can't wait for feb. and march. Glad i am only part-time.

Default Sweetbay

I rented a movie online today at Redbox for pickup at my usual Sweetbay at Lake Sumter. It said WinnDixie instead of Sweetbay on the Redbox site.

Both Winn-Dixie and Sweetbay are owed by Bi-Lo. In October 2013, Bi-Lo announced that all Sweetbay stores would be re-branded as Winn-Dixie.

A manager told me last week the change over was put off until March.

I was in Sweetbay, LSL yesterday. Don't know if it was because of the holiday/weekend, but, sure seemed to me that the inventory was noticeably depleted, especially the Hannaford house brands. Also, Sweetbay's weekly ads the past 2 weeks have been very skimpy.

Wonder if this is the beginning of the transition to Winn Dixie? I will be sorry to see Sweetbay go. It would never be my primary grocery store (just can't beat Publix) but I liked some of the products they carried and prefer their Deli to Publix. Winn Dixie has always just been OK to me, my 3rd choice in the local chains.

Had same experience as above with Redbox yesterday. Took me a few minutes to realize what was going on...:-(
When picking up our movie we also got a sub to go and the guy behind the counter told us that they would be closing for 3 days in March for signage and other changes to the store. Hope they don't do away with the sub counter.....best in TV! IMHO
