Default olympics are you going?

Saw today that the State Department is advising people to be aware for their personal security. Do you think people will stay away?

I knew the NSA had issued a no go for some of those who work or have worked recently in sensitive defense areas.
This is not uncommon, when hubby worked defense, lots of places we were advised not to travel to, that did not have travel advisory for the general public. But I was unaware the games were on a general beware list. Russia up till recently was not on our no go list. Years ago I remember I thought it was weird that they considered Greece dangerous and Russia safe.

They have eased the restrictions on past defense workers so we can go were we like now. We were not planning on going just wondered if others were concerned and if you think it will affect the games.

I would refuse to go just because of their policies toward homosexuals. The threat of terrorism is just an added reason not to go. Plus I have heard read that Sochi is a summer resort town and is hard to get to and expensive to stay there.

We were there for a day in 2008 on the World Cruise. Saw where the skiing was to be held. Big traffic jams getting to it and back to ship. tour guide video taped all our faces on bus and at lunch break, said it was his hobby. Afternoon excursion to botanical gardens was cancelled so we had to stay on ship. Tight security.
Gave up on expensive Visas as getting to close to sailing dae, so unless on tour, must be by ship. Much looser in Kamachha in Siberia two years later. I can not believe they put this all together.
