Burglars steal items from Bridgeport of Miona Shores, Tall Trees

A burglary in Bridgeport of Miona Shores and another in the Villages of Tall Trees brings to 11 the number of burglaries in The Villages over roughly the past three months.

Bridgeport of Miona Shores

The owners of the home returned on Saturday after having been gone about a week.
They discovered that a combination safe had been removed from the premises.
“There had been no forced entry,” said Lt. Nehemiah Wolfe of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A few other small items were taken while other valuable items had been overlooked, he added.

Tall Trees
Residents of a home on Pine Ridge Street in the Villages of Tall Trees reported a burglary sometime between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
The homeowners returned to find a bedroom light on and a light on in a bedroom closet.
The wife noticed a drawer for undergarments slightly open. Taken from the drawer were a diamond necklace, gold diamond earrings, and two ankle bracelets.
There were no signs of forced entry, but the homeowner believed the car door might have been left unlocked. A garage door opener was in the car and might have been used to open the garage door. A door from the garage to the open may have been left unlocked, said Lt. Bobby Caruthers of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
