Default Community Watch is handing out reminders

I was under the impression, i could be wrong, but deed restriction violations are resident, and non resident complaint driven, a simple phone call by anyone. Or is the community watch being proactive and handing out reminders for violations, such as building additions, removing grass, trees, painting etc. I received a reminder of a deed restriction, so if i have offended someone in my neighborhood, i truly apologize for this one offense. There are so many offenders to the deed restrictions in my Village, so is it now the job of Community Watch to Pro-Active and get tough on violators? If this is the case, it makes me happy knowing my amenity fees are being put to good use.

How was the reminder you received delivered?
If you want to know if CW is being proactive why not give them a call and ask? Then you can share the real story with us.

Good for Community Watch! Rules are rules and we all agreed to them when we moved here.

I believe Community Watch is the proverbial 'messenger' delivering news that was brought to the attention of the powers that be by someone that took exception to your transgression. You should probably relocate that gnome so that he stands under your eaves where he is safe from further comments.

I believe most, if not all, CW personnel are residents. There is no reason why they can not file a complaint as a resident. All they have to do is make a "simple phone call".

Why do I get the feeling Community Watch is the new whipping post. First the incident at Tamarind Grove mailboxes and now this. These guys should get a break and not forced to be the bearer of bad news for what they get paid. Hope I am reading this wrong - but, don't like what I think may be going on here.

May I ask what the deed restriction violation was that you were notified? As a new owner we have read as much as we can get our hands on and realize we may miss something simply because of being unaware. Ignorance of the law is no excuse and we want to live within the guidelines.

You mention there are many offenders of deed restrictions. Are some villages more prone to enforce the restrictions than other villages?

Due to the diversity of the Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions, it is important that you familiarize yourself with your particular set.

Concerns about possible deed restriction violations may be provided to the Community Standards Deed Compliance Division by phone, fax, mail, electronic mail, or in person and may be made anonymously. The Community Standards Deed Compliance Division is entirely complaint driven.

The restrictions are different for different areas of The Villages.
You should have received a copy of your deed restrictins at closing.
They can be reviewed here. Village Community Development Districts

We received the covenants prior to closing, but not anything relating to the deed. We'll check in out.

To our rescue again. Thanks!

***It now rings a bell. The Deed Restrictions were with out contract when we purchased. Very clear and concise with what is and is not acceptable.
