Default Chief Tucker going home

Looks like the charges have been dropped and Chief Tucker will be going home to his family. Villages - News has reported it.

Good news. I pray that it won't be over discussed.

The charges sounded pretty flimsy.

Default Charges dropped

Mr. Tucker's reputation has been severely damaged. Many people were quick to judge the man guilty without knowing the whole story. I, for one will be happy to welcome back Chief Tucker.

I worked child abuse and neglect several years as a consultant. It would be saying I told you so in this case to say innocent until proven guilty. It is so easy for everybody to make assumptions about things of which we have almost no information.

I have no opinion for or against anybody involved except to say it is a pity for people to jump to conclusions based on rumor, hearsay, unproven allegations, and what in this case was the merest shred of information published in the least reliable of sources.

I've known Tuck for over 12 yrs, one of the nicest and professional people you'd ever want to meet. If the district has a problem with him returning, shame on them....

I want that man where he has always been. I fully support his return to his job.

I can't imagine there would be any issues. This was a family matter. It will be resolved in family court. If it affects his job, there is something seriously wrong with the system.

BTW -- what does Janet Tutt or The Villages have to do with letting him get back to work? Doesn't he work for the County? (Per The Villages News: "Boylston also indicated that he would be contacting District Manager Janet Tutt to ensure that his client is fully reinstated in his job.")

Thumbs up Father of the year award

I think the Chief should win "Father of the year award". I believe the Chief got the kid's attention. I grew up "Old School". The police were irrelevant in my life and the kids I hung out with. The only thing I worried about, and the kids I hung out with was what would happen if our dad found out. That was the only "Law Enforcement" we worried about. And guess what? It works. Maybe if we went back to the old days methods of discipline, the local jails and the prisons would be less crowded. Also, the streets would be safer for everyone.----Just my opinion. (I can hear the bleeding hearts growling already)

Not that simple in this case. He adopted an older child. These kids come with many issues and corporal punishment rarely works. Sadly, for some of these kids, nothing really works. If they have attachment issues (so very common), there is no therapy or medication to help them. The best you can do is hope that some of your values stick and that they become at least semi-productive adults. Not a happy situation. I wish Chief Tucker and his family the best. At the very least, he got the attention of Family Services and that might just open a few doors to help him guide his son through teen-agedom.
