I want to put up solar landscape lights around my house. Most of the area does not get good sunlight. Is there a solution and what is it? I have heard of panels you can set in the sun and then wire it to the lights. Do these really work?

I have 3 solar spots that have a separate charger that I can put in the sun. They really do work, but be sure to purchase somewhere with a good return policy in case they don't meet your needs.

do the lights shown in the one from Lowes actually produce sufficient light to be noticeable?
If yes, for how long before they start to dim/go out?

The reason I ask is I have seen some in the neighborhood that look like very dim, 200 mile away "glow" specs of light.

I want to do some landscape lighting and would so much like to go solar if it is in fact effective lighting.

I don't have those yet, but I ordered them.

They should be bright and last all nite or for so many minutes till cycling off.

I have the cheap solar lights on the landscaping walmart lowes or HD $3 ea.

They work good for two years or so, then toss.

U can't use the ground lights for security a thief can just throw something over to block the lite or pull them out and toss them

The ones in the pic should be mounted high, there is also the element of surprise.

It depends too on where you want to put them, and why. We bought some cheap dim ones at Walmart, on purpose. We have them in the backyard to light up some of the landscaping just dimly so we can enjoy while sitting on the lanai. One of them lights up two standing white birds with fish in their mouths. Spoooooky!

I have a similar set as the one pictured from Lowes - mine are from Home Depot - in the summer they do burn for a good amount of time; however, they are dimmer than what you would get from a more expensive solar and definitely from a hardwired. They work for me as I am simply trying to accomplish an uplight glow.

I may try to mount them high like someone suggested.

I have tried solar lights and for me the light was never adequate.

I am going to put in LED lights because the lights are brighter, they are inexpensive to run, and they should last a long time.
